I am a 38 year old wife and mother (although I've never been pregnant or had a baby biologically). I work full time from home as a nurse and home school my daughter (who will be a Senior in the fall). I have always struggled with my weight and last year I decided that enough was enough. The closer I got to 40 the harder I knew it would be to get to a healthy weight. So, I got serious for the first time in my life and made some great lifestyle changes and dropped 70 pounds with diet alone. In the last 2 months I've added back cardio and now am trying to add strength training to my routine. So, I am at 140 pounds right now. My heaviest was 217. I would love to lose another 10 before surgery to give myself some weight gain cushion but I'm not sure if I can do it without some hard core exercising. I had a hydrostatic body fat test and only have 10 more pounds to lose to get to 'optimal' body fat. With all this great change, however, I still see myself as a fat person. I have a large stomach both above my belly button and below. I have always gained weight in my abdomen and the area of fat above my belly button protrudes beyond my breasts. Oh and the breasts! They have fallen southward and lost so much volume. So, I started consulting with local PS and have scheduled myself for a TT with breast lift and augmentation. My husband is supportive - although terrified of my drains - and my daughter (age 17) is ready to be my nurse for a few days. I look forward to posting updates along the way. Right now I'm 82 days away. With vacation and all the summer events I know it'll be here before I know it. Will post pictures closer to my surgery date.

Looking forward to hearing about your journey! I'm 9 days post op.

Oh great! How are you feeling?!?!
May 29, 2015
does the TT include a pubic lift and lipo ?
User Avatar
May 29, 2015
No. My provider does not do lipo at the time of a TT due to possibility of damaging the tissue of the 'flap' that will be pulled down. You can google this and read several published articles about it. My flanks are not very 'fat' at all. He suggested that I might wish to return another time for lipo my abdomen if I want a more defined look..the cost for that was $2,200. So, my husband and I decided after a year post op and continued exercise I'll make a decision. No need for a pubic lift so it was not discussed.

Congrats on the weight loss!! Honestly I know you want to loose 10 more lbs but know you're going to lose about 5 from the skin removed from TT. And the other 5 lbs is nothing. You'll probably lose that the first week since you won't have much of an appetite. When they tighten the ab muscles it kinda pushes in on your stomach and you'll feel full faster after surgery. I also got a little acid reflux the first couple weeks, then it went away.

Well..my doctor told me that it'd be a wash...maybe 2 pounds from the TT and then adding 2 to my boobs...so it'll likely be a wash. The scale isn't currently budging and I took some measurements to see if maybe I'm gaining muscle mass from running these darn hills and from swimming...but it might just be my body has found its sweet spot and refuses to go any lower. I actually learned during my weight loss to not eat until I feel full..but to eat until I'm no longer hungry..so maybe I just won't be able to eat as much and that will help (almost like a lap band does). We'll see..if I dont lose anymore I don't. I'm ok with it. But I'd still like to especially since I know I have about 10 I could lose. I just think it might come off with hours and hours in the gym that I dont have the luxury of attending because I spend hours and hours working :) Thanks for the tip about reflux. I'll be sure to keep some Pepcid on hand!

Some pre-op planning

Waffled on telling my mother about the surgery (I'm an only child)...but, we are very close and I decided I'd be upset if my daughter (also on only child) didn't tell me she was having this done as an adult...I'm glad that I did! She and my dad - being the avid yard sellers they are are on the lookout for some soft button down short sleeve shirts for me. I work from home so I don't care how they look or how big they are. I realized today as I was pulling my tshirt over my head when changing out of my pjs that those were not going to work for post op. I have some long sleeved button ups but I can't sleep in them as I tend to get hot. My mother - ever the southern lady - suggested looking for some 'dusters' also! She is hilarious...these are just some thoughts I'm having and since the weather is warm and I bet most of you guys have yard/garage sales and flea market type things going on. It's a good place to look for clothes on the cheap that we can toss if they get messed up during recovery. I'm currently kicking myself for getting rid of my XL panties that I shrunk out of.

Definitely a good idea because I only own ONE button down shirt because I also recently lost weight (20 lbs) over tn e past yr and yard sales would be a great place to look. Thank u for the tip!

I found some George brand at Walmart for $8 if you don't have any luck with the yard sales :) I placed an order online for 2 shirts, 2 of the zip of bras (that you already have), a 'boomerang' pillow and some tube tops. I got the tops to wear under the binder if it starts to irritate my skin after the TT portion...

You are doing great with pre-op preparations! I think I know what walmart zip bras you are referring to and definitely want to stock up on those. I'm waiting for pre-op, though, to make sure before I buy any bras (other than coobies) for post-op and the binders. Do you need compression garments after your TT? Or is that just for lipo, not sure! Are you planning on sleeping on a recliner? Tell me more about the boomerang pillow! I'm thinking of getting lipo foam for under the binder/garment to protect the skin. What are the tube tops? I'm going to get zip up short sleeve hoodies for immediate post-op. I figure the easier the better. I tend to overbuy when I prepare for big things, so I'm trying to either go with inexpensive items or only buy things that will be worth it for more than a few days. One exception would be the Go Girl Urinal, which I have heard is a must! But it's only $7 on amazon. Let's definitely compare notes!

I'm pretty sure I need compression garments even though I am not having Lipo right now. The tube tops are to wear under the binder in case it 'digs' basically they are tank tops without sleeves. Literally a tube..my Walmart didn't have any but online did. This is also where I got the boomerang pillow..so go to Walmart online and start shopping :) I overbuy as well..thus the reason for all the Walmart shopping :)

I'm so happy you told your mom. My MIL has surgery done all the time and never tells anyone until after. I'll start looking for those button down shirts too. That's a great idea. I got rid of all my "bigger" clothes as well. It's kind of weird to think I'll need them again after having surgery to get smaller. :)

I do have some pants that I had in a pile of 'give away.' Luckily they are all stretchy and those will come in handy.

the downside is now my mom thinks I need to stay with her after the procedure! i told her no way. I wanted to be home and suffer here :)

I made the mistake of thinking my yoga pants would work after my TT. Nope. They were so tight and pushed on the drains... I had 2 loose PJ pant sets and 2 loose night gowns & we were having to wash them constantly , get very loose pj pants that can go over your binder and not push on your drain sights. Or s nice button up the front moo moo night gown with the pockets lol I hear a lot of ladies putting the drains in the pockets.

i actually found some pjs bottoms shoved in my drawer. I tried to wear them to bed and they were HUGE..so I think they are going to work great. I have a few other pairs that didn't get tossed so I'm going to use those as well. thanks so much for the suggestions. you girls that have paved the way for us make it so nice!

Thanks for sharing! Have any idea on sizing? I'm guessing full size :-)
User Avatar

i don't anticipate being larger than a 36D and that is the largest it will go up in regular so I went with that. If they don't fit my daughter is a 32C so she can have them all..she will be thrilled!

I just ordered 3 - one in full size and the other two in large. I think a lot of it has to do with band size and right now a 38 is comfortable for me, although I can wear a 36. I just felt better going with the larger size just in case. These look great for sleep bras and recovery!

I agree! I have seen several people talking about these on this site and when zulily notified me they were 50% off I thought why not?!? I like an underwire and so I just plan to use these for 6 months...who knows. I might even like these more!

I'm looking forward to trying them out. What kind of zip of bra did you get? I have heard these are great- http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fruit-of-the-Loom-Seamless-Wirefree-Front-Close-Bra-Style-FT308/22360094. I really wish I knew what size I will be! I wear an XL sports bra from Walmart currently and they fit pretty well. I'm falling out of larges. Scares me because I'm starting to wonder if it will be really hard to find bras after the BA!
