Disaster Rhinoplasty - Chatswood, AU

I went to see Dr. Gerarchi for a rhinoplasty based on some good online reviews. I now live to regret it.I really liked him when I first met him; he seemed competent and kind and that he understood my concerns. I saw him around 4 times before actually having the procedure done to make sure that we were on the same page. We went through things in detail over and over again and I was surprised at his patience. He did do computer imaging which he does state is not a guarantee of results. I think computer imaging is an important tool so that you and your surgeon understand the outcomes you want and the outcomes that are achievable. I felt really confident that I had made the right decision and despite the enormous cost I went through the surgery.BIG MISTAKE!!! Unfortunately everything that was discussed (even on the morning of the surgery before I went under the anaesthetic) did not carry through to the surgery as I woke up with a much uglier and deformed nose. I had been so clear on what I wanted yet none of those things were done despite Dr. Gerarchi assuring me that it was achievable and would look amazing. There were things done that he didn't even tell me he was going to do; things I never wanted! I gave it time to settle and of course nothing changed. I wish every day that I never walked in to his rooms. It was supposed to be a simple procedure, I wasn't asking for anything too drastic. It's not ok for any surgeon to go into surgery and do whatever he wants on the spot without having first discussed these things with the patient. I have since come to learn a lot of his practice is smoke and mirrors; a lot of the positive reviews on this, and other forums and web pages (the ones without pics) have been written by his staff etc.He claims to be a rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty expert however I caution you to seek out a plastic and reconstructive surgeon NOT an ENT "cosmetic" surgeon as they just don't have the same training or experience. Things can go wrong with a plastic surgeon too however it is less likely to happen. I believe Dr. Gerarchi is not an expert in rhinoplasty despite his claims, and considering he charges the same (if not more) than proper qualified plastic surgeons I suggest you find other reputable plastic surgeons who provide photos from all angles of their patients and who have proper training.Having said that, it has now been almost 9 months and I have found a plastic surgeon whom I trust and will be having a revision performed by him in the coming months as I look hideous and cannot go on feeling and looking this way. Dr. Gerarchi failed to answer why he had done things so differently to what was discussed although he has offered to revise (for a fee) I cannot trust him to go anywhere near me again (he stuffed up once that's enough for me to run the other way). My scar will also have to be revised as it was not stitched properly and due to the bulky tip graft being so uneven the scar sits uneven and doesn't look right at all. I also didn't like the fact that his nurse (who was quite rough) removed my stitches as I believe a Dr. should be there to handle all aftercare. Needless to say I am very disappointed with my experience and can only hope this will be fixed in the coming months by a proper plastic surgeon!Lastly I won't be posting photos here however when I have my revision performed I will be reviewing the other Dr. and if all good I will post before and after photos with that review; I just don't have the confidence to put up photos of the way I look right now!

This is the hardest and most embarrassing thing but I think it needs to be done to make people aware. This is a photo of me now after Dr Gerarchi operated and left me with a hideous, huge and badly scared nose. All other before, after etc. photos will be posted when I have my next surgery and am more confident.
