I had a complex revision rhinoplasty requirement from a very botched primary rhino in Perth by another doctor in 2009. I had a deviated septum and my nose was crooked from an accident but in my primary rhino, the previous surgeon went overboard and did things I never asked. He destroyed my beautiful Greek nose that I now wish I never touched. I searched high and low for someone in Australia to help me. The few surgeons I saw in Perth said my operation would be quite complex and were hesitant as I needed a complete tip reshape, heightened dorsal and harvest cartilage either from the ear or rib. I didn't search enough in Perth I have now realised. I looked to the eastern states but couldn't visit every surgeon so after reading the material on revision rhino at the face institute website, I chose to only visit Dr Gerarchi.

That was just the opening. Read my actual review. He never discussed with me ore op what he would do. As a result I have a very large ugly nose. He didn't communicate with me his plans. I'm very disappointed. Read the second part of my review.

I advise you to visit Dr Imani at Claremont, I am just recovering from exactly what you describe (I wonder if we had the same surgeon, my original rhinoplasy was 20 years ago) Dr Imani was fantastic and told me it was very complex, he advised he would NOT be using rib cartridge as it was too brittle and I could have complications later in life. He was hoping I had enough ear cartridge left but would not know for sure till he was operating, this Dr is an artist, very important attribute for this operation. Do not go on price, this operation is to important. Admittedly he is expensive, I paid $15,000 plus other costs, I was in theater for 5.5 hours, he scheduled me in to be his last patient just after lunch so he could work on me for the afternoon. I am now 4 weeks pre op and I see him again in the morning, I wasn't going to write on this post till I was completely happy as I still have swelling, but your case was mirror image to my own, I will never have the length of my nose back but I can honestly say I am so happy and my breathing has improved 100%, no more blockages. His receptionist Lisa was so helpful and friendly, she made me feel I was in good hands. Give him a call and ask for my number if you want to discuss further. All the best, Diane

Diane would you be able to send me pictures? I had complete difference experience with imani. he has shortened my nose and removed a lot of my bridge, he's ruined my nose :'( I wish I never did it. it's been 8 months and it's just so bad

Because people make mistakes. It's called vanity and stupidity. I was teased about my nose for years by my own family as being too big. The sides of my nose have slightly collapsed since. It's hit and miss with surgeons. I'm not interested in dr imani. He's arrogant. I now compare plastic surgeons to car mechanics

I can edit my post above but it is incomplete. I regret my decision to go with dr Gerarchi especially being a interstate patient. I should have gone to someone in perth. Dr Gerarchi did not explain to me prior to the operation what he was going to do. The end result is I now have a very large ugly nose. I hope a third operation is one day possible.

I read so many reviews at this website about various plastic surgeons around australia who take time to listen to and answer post op their patients questions. I feel dr gerarchi is lacking this. Imagine paying 11,000 for revision Rhinoplasty and coming out with a nose larger than your birth Nose and not receive one retuned phone call even though you asked more than once to be contacted. I honestly feel it's all about money at the face institute and not about making people happy. Even if dr Gerarchi could explain to me why he gave me such a large nose it would help. I cannot recommend dr Gerarchi for revision rhinoplasty. You may end up with a very large masculine nose. Even as I look at men's noses, they are not as large as mine. I have no idea what de Gerarchi was thinking because he won't even tell me.

That just makes me sick! The fact that a dr could just turn his back on one of his patients!! I'm so sorry u have to go thru this. So he never even gave you your surgical notes after surgery?!

No way. They don't do that in Australia. His staff are rude to me as well. Mainly his receptionist. She made me shift my appointment twice because of her incompetencies. It cost me in airfares. That should have been a sign to cancel the operation.

I so sorry to hear that you have suffered this...I hope by sharing your plight perhaps someone with the right information will show up and also share that so you can end up with a better outcome. Meanwhile hang in there...I have heard it takes 6 to 18 months for the REAL nose to show up.

Dear Veronica, You are not a patient of mine. An Aneurysm is a bulging, weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain. It is absolutely never rhinoplasty-surgically related. A rhinoplasty cannot cause this. Furthermore, an aneurysm can cause stroke or death (extremely dangerous). Furthermore, none of my patients have ever been paralyzed- anyone is welcome to check my record with the CPSO. Please stop posting absolute lies.

Hi would you be able to inbox me your nose? i recently had a surgery in perth, he went over board and shaved down 5MM, I LOVED the height of my nose now its soo flat and close to my face. really need to know who i can see to ammend the mistake

Often surgeons over resect peoples noses. look at my other posts for my original rhino that was over resected.
