I am a 30 year old mother of three with an scheduled Tummy Tuck on 12/19/14. My surgeon is Dr.Stephan Finical of Charlotte Plastic Surgery. I became a mother at 20 years old, gaining 70 lbs. All of stretch marks that you see, solely occurred during my first pregnancy. I was very sick & on bed rest. The only thing I could keep down was Ensure. I drank a few a day & gained weight too quickly. I was told by my OB at the time that my abdominal muscles ripped during the pregnancy. I've wanted a TT for a while but wanted to wait until I was done having kids. My goal is to lose at least an additional 10 lbs before my procedure. I am working out 4 days a week attending boot camp & HIIT classes. I hope that with a clean diet & regular exercise I can achieve my goal before surgery.

Rambles...

I've been up and down since I scheduled my appointment. I'm anxious, excited, doubtful, motivated, and so much more. I assume it's all normal. I have an appointment with my OBGYN next week to talk about a permanent form of birth control. My husband offered to get a vasectomy but I'd feel guilty if he did...is that weird? I've been spending my lunch breaks working out hard with a personal trainer at the gym at work. I want to be in the best shape I can be before my scheduled surgery. On another note, there's so much information on RealSelf on what to pack , medications/supplements to take, support wear but....what do you wear during recovery? My post op instructions state that I should wear loose pants & a shirt that buttons. If I'm returning to work 15 days after my TT, can I wear my normal work clothes? Or will I need to buy bigger clothes because of swelling? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

If your husband is willing to get fixed for you, you should take him up on his offer! My husband was fixed because it's a simple procedure. In and out, done at the drs office. He had it done on a Thursday and was back to work on Monday. And it was cheaper than me doing it. In a woman's case of having tubes tied, it's major surgery and lots of times down the road hysterectomies can occur. I am so thankful husband opted to have his done and I'll say it again, if he's willing you should jump on that train with him! Good luck

I felt exactly what you were feeling 5 months ago! I had to have my TT during the summer bc I am a teacher and didn't know how long the recovery period would be. I am currently a little over 4 weeks post op and I am just now fitting into my loose clothing. I tried on my work clothes and although they fit, they aren't comfortable. I start work Aug 18th, so I am hoping I can wear them and be comfortable. Everyone is different tho and maybe you will be able to wear normal clothes after 15 days.
As far as clothing after surgery. I went to Old Navy and purchased Maxi dresses and wore those for 2 weeks. At the time they were on sale. Seeing that your surgery is scheduled for December, that might be difficult. I don't know what the weather is like there but her in Fayetteville, Nc I can wear a dress in Dec bc it doesn't get cold LOL. Maybe some workout clothing will be your best bet :-). Good luck!

Thank you for the insight. I plan on living in yoga pants for the first two weeks. When I return to work, I'll have to dress business professional. It will most likely be freezing here in Charlotte when I have my surgery. I'll have to figure out the work attire between now & then.

I weighed myself this morning & I am down 2.4 lbs! I've been eating pretty well & I have definitely been more active . My short term goal is to lose 5lbs & ultimately lose 15lbs before surgery!

Hi! I am 1 and a half weeks into TT recovery from Paul Watterson at Charlotte Plastic Surgery. It is not so bad. Just make sure you have a recliner to sleep in. The pain is quite tolerable and you will love the results. The team at CPS is as good as it gets- good luck!

Hi, I am also scheduled for December. I haven't started posting my journey, going to put some pics up of me this weekend. My tummy is a hot mess. I look forward to following your journey. I will only have three weeks to recover. I hope it is enough time either way whether i'm ready or not I will have to return to work. My husband five years ago got a Vasectomy he was in a out the office, sore for a few days but you shouldn't feel guilty your body has been through enough with child bearing and now this surgery let him take one for the team :)

I'll be out for 16 days. I am also nervous that I may not be ready to return to work. When are you scheduled? I look forward to hearing you story.

Hello! I'm so excited for you and Dr. Finical is THE best. He did my circumferential tummy tuck three years ago with breast lift and he is work is perfection and my abs are too. You will love the outcome.
