When you look at yourself in the mirror and the first thing you notice are your tired eyes, and no matter what you wear or how you fix your hair and you still look tired and sad, that's when I knew it was time for a change. My upper eyelids had bothered me for a while since turning 40ish and now that I am 48, the lower eyelid skin had started to sag and crinkle at rest or smiling. Eye makeup would smudge and no matter how much I would wipe the mascara off, I would always be left with a residue around my eyes. My right eye was far worse than my left. I was self conscious about my smile and botox did not really help with the redundant skin in the uppers and lowers. I actually felt it made my situation worse.
I tried several procedures that included RF treatments, Lasers, and chemical peels but nothing was impressive enough and ended up spending a lot of money with little results.
I was very nervous since I have dry eyes that I have under control with the prescription eye drop Xiidra but was still nervous that it could get worse since dry eyes is a common side effect.
I made it clear to Dr. Paul Watterson my dry eye issue and was very impressed and comfortable with his plan of action that included a conservative approach to skin removal for the uppers and lowers with a canthopexy.
I am 4 weeks out of surgery and absolutely delighted with the results. My eyes actually look far better than I expected and I love the results. Absolutely no regrets and as far as the dry eyes, well, my eyes actually feel really good and no dry symptoms considering the air is so cold and dry and typically my dry eyes are worse in winter.
My recovery was easy and I had no pain. The bruising and swelling was at its worse days 3 and 4 and started to get better thereafter. At 2 weeks I started wearing my contacts and simple eye makeup. Actually with this surgery, I don't need much makeup anymore.

Your eyes look 20 years younger! I'm also 48 and thinking of an upper and lower.. it's quite scary, I've been thinking for about a year. But your results convince me!

If you find the right doctor, the results can be so rewarding. I look at older photos of myself and I think WOW! Lately I have been getting a lot of positive comments from friends and they cant really tell what I have done.

You look amazing, I had this done after reading your first review. And I'm also very happy. It's been more than a year now. Thank you for inspiring me!

Hi, can you explain a bit more. Did you have the issue with the kids after an blephaplasty? So this is revised? And do you know why thus happened to you as I have had bleph and have 1 lid like your worst one was looking. What is a canth please?

This is not a revision. I had the uppers done and just a skin pinch for the lowers.
The canthopexy was done to prevent the lowers lids from sagging.

Still enjoying the results. Don't need to wear as much makeup. The scars are no longer visible and the canthopexy settled well. This procedure was well worth it considering it took years off my face since my eyes always looked tired and saggy.

Thanks for your feedback.
Good skin care and eyelid surgery is what's keeping it together.

I agree. You don't look 50!

Are you planning on getting your eyes done? I read where you had to have fillers dissolved last year and made your skin crepey. Same thing happened to me and that's why I stopped fussing with under eye fillers and botox. They don't work for under eye wrinkles.
