1 Year Anniversary!!!

Well today is my (1) year anniversary of my surgery and I can't believe a year has gone by. There was a time when I felt that the days would not pass quickly enough as I knew that time would have to pass in order to get back to normal. But like has been back to normal now for quite some time and just about every night I look and still get a happy feeling when I see them. Now changes have occured during the year. For almost 6 months, I would feel strangle tingles and twinges. Not painful, but not great either. Somewhere around 7 months they stopped. In the beginning they were very firm, and did not move much. Now they are much softer and will "jiggle" a bit. The swelling just takes months to subside. I have been very protective of my breast, I really never go without a bra, and even still sleep in my soft bra. Only around the 10 month mark did I feel that I could sleep on my stomach. I just did not want to crush or stress the scar incisions. Even now, my stomach sleeping is more of a side sleep. But they have "dropped a bit from their original position after surgery. I still use the freckle on my arm as a reminder of their post op height. The drop has been about 1 inch and as I did not opt for an implant the upper portion above the breast is flatter. But from the side, I have a perfect teardrop and the nipple point up, so in a teeshirt they look great. I just went back for my 1 yr appt last week and commented on this. Dr Harper suggested that if I wanted a bit of fullness on the top they could take a bit of tummy fat from liposuction and inject it above the nipple to the breast bone. He did say that this might increase my size by about a cup. After a sleepless mulling this over- I really don't want any fullness there and definitley don't want to increase my cup size. So I will pass on that option. Having had large breasts I love being smaller, I now have the freedom to wear Yoga tops and camis in a way and with a comfort that I never could before. My posture is also really under control - I stand straighter and taller, and feel no need to minimize my chest. Standing tall just makes them look better.
So has the journey been worth it? YES
Would i do this again? YES
Would I suggest that any woman consider this? YES
Just read as much as you can, seek out a Dr you feel comfortable with, as you will be pulling up your top to him for months to come and you need to be able to express your concerns and fears in a frank manner. A
Ask to see his pre-post op photos. If you do not like what you see, go to another Dr.
Try to get a Dr that specializes in breasts, so if he did your nose, his partner might be better at your breasts. They all have preferences in the surgeries they perform.
Above all do not wait if this is something you think you might want to do... it is life-changing!

2 Months and FANTASTIC!

Well it now been 2 months, just past the 9 week point and I could not be happier.
Now I won't mislead you and says its been easy. I had a fair share of sleepless nights, in an effort to get comfortable, but overall its been very managable. My big turning point was having to attend a large intense 7 day meeting in Las Vegas just at the 4 week mark. This forced me out of my routine and and was a real coming out. I started to prepare by walking slowing during the week prior, (yes, the bouncing from just walking was enought of a jiggle to cause discomfort later) I made sure i wore a firm bra. I really liked my surgical bra and actually bought another. Dr Harper advises tokeep taping the incision sites. So this took a bit of time in the morning to apply them in the right order and not too tight. but the trip was a real psychological boost for me as I looked ans felt so good in my clothes. Even went out and bought a fedw new "hot" dresses for the party nights.
On my retun and at 5weeks, Dr Harper advised that I could tet back to an exercise routine. As a rule, I still avoided heavy lifting and still keep my arms close and am carefull not to overach, so I dont pull on the healing incisions under each breast as it turns toward mynunder arm. for me, my return to exercise was hitting my bike and Ive hit that with a vengeance, putting in 10 miles each night.
what has taken me by surprise it the mild burning sensation I feel in each breast. Mostly at night, it not a real pain, but like a road rash ache. this sensation I understand is all the nerves reconnecting and it gets better each week. but it has made me grumpy during the day.
The scars also look pretty good, as a normal progression of healing, they can start to look a bit worse as younheal, So its so important to use the scar gel and tape to prevent tension and stretching. I was replacing the tapes every day, but I find I can keep them on for up to 4 days, leave them off over night and put them back in the morning. dr Harper, advises to keep this up for at least 4 months until the scar mature. i do sleep in a light bra.
So how to they look? perfect! there has been a slight drop, but ever so slight. t hey are firm and the nipples are in perfect position. for the first time in 40 years (i am 56) I can wear a bikini halter top with no tugging at the neck. The top just cups around and for me that the ultimate. in fact every day I have to pinch myself that i
actually did this. this has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and I can only encourage anyone who is considering this procedure, to do your homework, investigate your Dr, see his results, understand his plan for you. if you dont like what you see, go elsewhere, there are many great Drs out there. But do not delay, this could be the greatest thing you do for yourself!

3weeks and looking good!
