I had breast implants for 13 years when I developed breast pain that would shoot down my arm. My surgeon expressed that the best chance to be pain free was to completely remove my implants which I did. Unfortunately I was left with barely any breast tissue and some tissue that adhered to my muscle. I began to research what could be done to fix my breasts and the scar tethering.
I knew I didn't want to put implants back in so I began to find all the top fat transfer doctors I could find. I consulted with about a dozen and I couldn't make a decision. I decided to create a group on Facebook called Fat transfer to the breast to connect with other women who did this surgery. That is when I found Dr. Bednar. I did a phone consult and we discussed my case. Dr .Bednar felt he could help me but it may take several surgeries to give me the fullness I desired. I knew I couldn't book a surgery without meeting the doctor in person so I flew to Charlotte to meet the doctor and staff in person. I cannot say enough good things about the entire office! You will not come across another office who cares about their patients as much as Dr. Bednar's. When I came home I called Sylvia and I booked my surgery for January 12th.
I arrived in Charlotte on Thursday the 11th for my prep. My cousin lives in Charlotte so she was my caregiver while I was there. We stayed at the South Park Marriott which was in a great location. We grabbed a quick lunch at Living Kitchen (I highly recommend it) and headed to the office. Dr. Bednar showed me where he would be taking the fat and made sure I was comfortable with it. We decided to take a little from my love handles, some from my inner thighs and some from my saddle bags and back of legs.
I arrived in the office the next morning at 7 am. Dr. Bednar came in and marked me up, I got my IV, met with the anesthesiologist and the surgery started shortly after. I believe it was about 3 hours. I don't remember much after I woke up except I had some severe nausea. It took a few hours before I could stop vomiting but I think it helped get all the meds out of my system. I slept for the rest of the day and night.
The next day I was able to move around without too much pain....just stiffness and soreness. I only took Tylenol and opted against taking the pain pills. The hardest thing for me was figuring out how to pee comfortably. I had a lymphatic drainage massage that afternoon which I highly recommend. Dorothea is excellent at what she does....the massage is a super light tough which stimulates your lymphatic system and it significantly reduces swelling.
Sunday, we decided to go across the street to walk around the mall and grab lunch. That took more energy than I thought so we went back to the hotel to rest. We had a great time binge watching Netflix and ordering in. By Monday morning I was feeling pretty good. I had another lymphatic massage, met with Dr Bednar for a post op and flew home.
I am now 10 weeks post op and I feel great. My lipo pain and numbness went away by a few weeks post op. The swelling in my breasts was gone by 4 weeks. I started out completely flat and now I have a nice very full B cup. If you are even thinking about this surgery I urge you to contact Dr. Bednar and set up a consult. He is an artist and has changed my life in ways he will never know. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
