Oil cysts and calcifications in breast

After a year or so I began to notice bumps in my right breast. After having to get bilateral mammograms I was told that I had developed fat necrosis, which can often happen after breast surgery. I contacted Dr. Bednar again about this issue, as one of the lumps was growing fast and started to push out to where you could see the large lump under my skin. My right breast was becoming deformed due to this, and Dr. Bednar offered to have me come back in and see what he could do to help. He ended up draining the large mass (the oil cyst) and using PRP to try to help break up the other calcifications that had developed. He did this free of charge, and took great care. I was very pleased with his help. He mentioned that in the future he would not recommend performing implant removal to be done at the same time as the fat transfer, and maybe doing them separately could have prevented some of the damage/allowed healing for those who may benefit from this tip. I have contacted his office again recently to see if I can go in for another PRP treatment to hopefully continue to break up the calcifications since the previous treatment definitely helped, and he said he would be happy to try another treatment. I am very appreciative of his continued care.

Ive developed some fat necrosis and oil cysts

Well after the surgery it didnt take too long (maybe 6 mos to a year) and I noticed some lumps in my breasts. I called Dr Bednar and he was very helpful, calling me personally to talk about it, said it was common with this procedure, but that it would be a good idea to get a diagnostic assessment. I went to a breast center and got a 3D mammogram (I couldnt afford the ultrasound, it was $900). I also had my results sent to Dr Bednar. Both the breast center ad Dr Bednar said they were benign cysts. Now its been 2 years since my surgery and my lumps are still there and one has gotten very large (at least an inch across and a strange pointy shape). I can feel them under my skin (and so can my husband). My OBGYN suggested I get another Diagnostic Mammo (bilateral) and ultrasound but the going price for those is 2,000. I want to get these done too since my cyst is so large and has changed in shape and grown since last year. I will have to see what I can do bc of the cost. Just be aware that this is very common and you may be forking out a lot of extra money on exams in the future due to this common development after this surgery.

3 months and a couple weeks out...

I feel as though I have healed well and am happy with my results. I am back to my old self physically in terms of being able to exercise, enjoy some alcohol, and things aren't changing anymore in appearance. If you slap the outside of my thighs I am still slightly sensitive from the lip, but otherwise things feel normal. I did lose quite a bit of volume in the breasts, maybe a cup and a half, but I would say compared to what I had before in terms of breast tissue I have gained a cup and a half, and now have a beautiful shape to them as well. The left nipple seems to hide a bit (unless I am cold it stays inverted.) I hope that over time it comes back out, but I am happy either way. Has this happened to anyone else before? And if so did it ever come back out? Also, the liposuction areas are healed nicely too. Scarring is minimal and you can see in the pictures they are flat and slightly discolored still. I will continue to stay out of the sun and treat them with scar cream daily. I read it can take up to a year for them to fully fade, is that correct? On my lower back there is still some light brown bruising or discoloration of some sort. Also when I exercise the brownish color shows up behind my knees a bit, I assume this is form lipo as well and may go away fully over time (correct?) Lately I have noticed a bit of bumpiness on the right hip, I am attempting to massage it daily and hoping that may help. Any tips? Thanks so much for your feedback. Overall I am extremely happy with Dr. Bednar and staff, it was a positive experience all around.

Dr Bednar is located in Charlotte, NC and I am living in Tennessee so I was worried about pre-op and post-op visits and good communication overall. Initially, he really took the time to do a phone consult with me and answer all my questions leading up to the procedure. He re-assured me about all my concerns and fears, and I really believed he knows what he is talking about. The pre-op appointment took place the day before my surgery and him and his wonderful nursing staff (That's you Sylvia!) took so much time to go over everything with me in great detail. His after care and follow up has been incredible, especially since I live 6 hours away! They have made many phone calls, texts, and emails to re-assure me and answer any and all questions I have had during my recovery.
