My nose is still taking shape 20 months later!

I still have terrible swelling in the morning, whenever I eat salt, or when I have been out in the heat too long. By evening, my nose is much more refined, and I am still watching the metamorphosis. I simply must be patient, as open revision rhinoplasty can take years to heal.

"Botched" plastic surgery is tragic. When people pay thousands of dollars to improve their appearance, they shouldn't have to pay more money to ANOTHER surgeon to fix the mess, not to mention endure the peaks and valleys of the healing process. Surgeons should NOT be cutting into people's faces unless they are 100% confident in their ability to perform a specific, specialized procedure.

I agree %100.
I am still mentally scarred after my rhinoplasty 2 years ago, life has not been the same. I spent 10k dollars for anxiety, severe depression, PTSD, social anxiety, depersonalization, and so much more. Basically I ruined my own life over a minor thing that didn’t really bother me too much. But I was cheated on and thought I wasn’t good enough.
I don’t have the funds or courage to get a revision as I don’t trust any surgeon any more. I feel like they are all bad.
What a journey this has been

I would like to ask, why has the swelling not resolved after 20 months? Do you have a tick skin- I read that many patients are satisfied about 6-9 months after an open rhinoplasty

More pictures of progression...

I just recently located a picture of my original, somewhat rather "European" nose (pre-1996) for comparison. From what I have been reading online, a botched rhinoplasty is not especially common, yet Dr. Freeman has a significant amount of experience in correcting the poorly done rhinoplasties of other surgeons, so, once again, I would recommend him without reservation.

Nearly at the one year mark...

I had an "open" revision procedure, thus, my surgeon informed me post-operative swelling would resolve around the one year mark. While the tip of my nose is still slightly puffy, especially in the morning, I am quite pleased to witness my nose finally begin to assume a more refined and definitive shape.

Your nose looks great! Did you have alar rim graft to your nostrils?

:-) We must be on similar wavlengths, as I just replied to your message from August 1st. I am unsure about the alar rim grafting. I do know that one of the major issues was the awful amount of hanging columella and the lack of cartilage support in my tip (the initial procedure was "closed". ) Dr. Freeman utilized the "open" approach, trimmed and tucked the excess columella, slightly narrowed the bridge, and used the what cartilage was still available in my nose to rebuild the infrastructure in both the bridge and the nasal tip (which was actually in the process of collapsing!) He had initially discussed the possibility of grafting from my ear, which proved (thankfully) unnecessary. Moreover, the deviated septum was impairing breathing through my left nostril, which was alleviated via the septoplasty (I can't believe I PAID the surgeon back in 1996 to mess up my poor nose!) Thank goodness for accomplished surgeons like Dr. Freeman.
