Is the Bovie painful? Can you feel it shocking you? I am also worried that the local anesthetic shots would poke a hole in the lung or something like that... :(

The Bovie is not painful at all when are numb from the local anesthesia. It does not shock the body. The odds of a plastic surgeon that you trust to operate on you poking a hole in your lung are very very slim. The explant surgery is much less invasive than the original surgery that literally ripped the muscle from the rib cage. If you have implants and have gone through that surgery. Explanting is a breeze. Very little pain compared to the original surgery.

Thanks!! That's good to know! I was afraid that I would jump if I felt pain and then the surgeon could poke a hole somewhere. I guess I am just over-thinking. I do trust my PS but I haven't gone through a surgery with just local anesthesia (I prefer local to general or sedation though).

You look marvelous MichelleinWV!! Hope the itching has subsided, that by far was one of the worst after effects for me!!

Congratulations on your surgery and results. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and feel great. I had a little swelling but am feeling better by the day. I went with the general anesthetic. I had implants in a total of 38 years so it feel so funny at 65 to be au natural again! Gee I didn't know what to expect. I am much less saggy than what I expected. I keep expecting them to start drooping! LOL Will post pics this weekend. I can't say it has been pain free but it has certainly been less painful that either of the BA I had! I am very happy with my results and so glad this site gave me the information and courage to go ahead with it! Thanks ladies and happy explanting!!!

My stitches come out tommorrow.

MichelleinWV
I am looking forward to getting these itchy stitches out. The itching has been driving me crazy on and off. Benadryl has helped me a lot. My favorite bra is a soft sports bra with a padding in the cup. I need the cup! I like a padding in my bra now....I laugh at the thought of that. The Danskin Bra from Walmart was the cheapest one I bought too. I do like my Barely There bra's from Kohl's too. But, the Walmart bra is bigger around and it does not rub my stitches as bad for now. I bought a few bra's because I was not sure what to buy. I will post a picture of a couple favorite's.

I can look back on the last week and honestly say it has been WORTH IT! My boobs are not perky and one is looking bigger than the other because there was a leak in that implant for a while and it caused sagging. Also my right inplant always felt "tighter". The sagging is something I noticed starting about a a year and a half ago. The doctor didn't not confirm the leak because he ruptured the implant before he removing it. Which was fine because it didn't really matter one way or the other to me, I just wanted them out. I was awake because I chose the local anesthesia and it was an odd sensation to feel that warm saline run down my sides as I laid there. It did not hurt to get them removed but the pulling and liquid running was something I felt. The doctor used a devise called a bovie to cut and seal the area of the cut, which is common. I could smell the burning. I am a nurse so I knew what to expect when I saw the Bovie. Look up Bovie cautery if you want to understand that. I can say that the shots to numb the area were the most uncomfortable for me. And even that hurt less than the shot a dentist gives. I told the doctor when I felt anything (like heat from the bovie) and he would give more shots. All in all it went well. One nurse held my hand and the other talked to me. The doctor took his time to explain every step he was taking and I really appreciated that.

My friends and family keep looking at my chest when they talk to me. So expect to have that happen..lol. I feel much thinner and my shirts that were all extra large are way too big. Its a really nice feeling to be able to buy medium shirts again!

My breasts are soft and squishy (very) ......and my incisions are itching. I went to see my Mother today and she kept saying I looked thin. Life is good here.

You look great and it sounds like you're healing beautifully...take it easy the next few days, give it about a week before major chores--enjoy the natural side! You will be fine!

Congrats on finally getting them out!!! My story is very similar to yours except I'm a couple years older, I am also choosing to remove mine with a local July 18. And I can't wait! Thank you for your encouraging story!

Congratulations on making the decision to get them out. I can't believe I left them in all that time. It feels so much better having them out. I went to 3 appointments over the years and was discouraged each time and advised to just get more implants. They were wrong.....I am thrilled!

I know !!! they just go for business. Wow, I really don´t like the way implants feel like, I am just 2 months post BA. I can´t imagine they would last all that time inside me. You were so strong to live with that and deciding for explant.
