I am from Kissimmee , fl area and I was wondering if you would be willing to share who did your surgery and if you would recommend your PCP also, I don't have one yet, but My old doctor was not supportive and didn't believe the surgery was the answer. I am hoping to find a good primary care physician that can help me get it approved with Cigna. Your feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

Dr Keith Kim from Florida Hospital Celebration did my surgery. He is awesome. He knows what he is doing. My pcp was a residency doctor at the center for family medicine in winter park. Their practice is supportive of the surgery. Your best bet is to go to their info seminar and I am sure they can provide you with a pcp that they work closely with since Kissimmee is so close to celebration.they have info sessions every wed @6pm at Florida hospital celebration. Good luck..

OMG thank you so much, I thought that they had stopped doing the informational sessions in celebration. Celebration is just 10 min from me . Thanks a million

Surgery was a success. Day 2 was a challenge. The good thing is I work for the hospital and I knew from a clinical standpoint that the pain meds were too strong. I had them stop the pills and made them give me liquid pain killer instead. That made all the difference in the world. I was discharged today.yay!

Congrats! I had my surgery with Dr. Smith on 1/21/16. It's been challenging but it gets better everyday.

Congrats on your journey, I can honestly say that day 2 was the worst.I was having second thoughts wondering "what the heck did I get myself in". But I have learn to manage my pain and plan myself according. Today I am feeling great. I rested and walked every hour. My taste buds have changed, I no longer like protein shakes nor jello, sigh. Next week I will know what foods I still like once I start pureed foods.

How long did you stay in the hospital? Were you given any food while you were there? I want to know if things have changed since I had my surgery in 2002.

I Got Discharged On Day 3. I was on a liquid diet during my stay. I am still on a liquid diet until Tuesday.

I had gastric bypass in 2002 and it was the best thing ever for me. I am also in a medical research group at a medical teaching hospital. I go in about every two years and they run a whole lots of tests on me. But sad to say is that most of the other patients in this research group, even after surgery has gained all their weight back. The head doctor told me I was a rare one who has not gained weight back. My only advice is to never drink carbonated beverages and listen to your body. when you tummy says it is full. it is full and you must stop eating. Remember your stomach went from the size of a football to a small bag, will eventually grow to hold 8 oz but no more unless you force it to grow.

The good thing is I am not a soda drinker. I am very content with what I am allowed to eat and I do eat to fill my pouch not my eyes. I am loving my results thus far and will continue to eat healthy. I do not want to gain any weight back.
I did this to reverse diabetes so I know it's imports to stay on track.

When did you have your surgery? If you follow most of the rules you will never be obese again. I kept my fat clothes for about 7 years just in case I slipped, but I finally donated them all. I know I will never be obese again in my life! I wish you the best and let me know how you are doing or if you have any questions. your pouch will enlarge but not much. I went from eating 2 ounces of food at a time to about 8 oz now but no more. You get to a point where you know you cannot take one more bite so you stop. I think that is why I hate going out to eat now. I waste so much food. But it is so worth it. I wish you a happy journey to a new you.

I had my surgery Feb 8th. I am already having to buy clothes. I went from an xlarge to a medium in my tops. I am not keeping me clothes because I don't ever want to fit in them again.just my little rule I made. I have experience to stop eating when I am full. It's such a good feeling not to over indulge. I love it. Also I no longer have sweet cravings. I think that is the best part of the surgery. I am very confident and have a lot of will power. I know that I will be successful in more journey just like you :)

You must not have been very over weight if you are already a Medium after 3 weeks. My Insurance demanded we be over 100 lbs and a BMI of 35 for them to pay for it. In fact I had to. gain 30 lbs for them to pay for it. That part was awful but I could not afford it if I did not. I mean I loved eating all that cheesecake etc, but so silly that I had to gain so much weight. But I did what was needed for my insurance to pay for it and I had to prove I had been on every diet invented, which I did. You name it and I had been on it. And my doctor had to sign a ton of forms telling them that Yes I have tried every other means of dieting without success. Please tell me that it is a lot easier now, then what I went through? Mine was a 2 year process and when the surgeons office called me at work to tell me I had been approved. I cried like a baby.

I weighed 225 , I did the same thing. Gained a few pounds to qualify.Yes my insurance paid for my procedure as well. It is very easy. My journey took about 5 months which wasn't bad at all. On my surgery date I weighed 200, lost 25 lbs prior to surgery, I have lost 7 lbs since surgery date ,193 now. I am 5'6". So I am pretty talk and I am leaning out nicely. I can tell you that when I got my call saying I was approved. I was a little teary eyed too.

February 27, 2016
I am only 5'4" and I weighed 243 lbs. I went down to 135 and gained 10 in last few years, so 145 lbs, but have weighed the same for over 5 years now. That is what you want to do, maintain the same weight over time. I am happy at this weight and my only problem now is eating different things. I find things I like taste good to me and eat the same thing almost every day. Oh well I feel healthy and great.

Right after I had my surgery it seemed like every commercial on TV was for Dairy Queen and it drove me nuts. Now that I am 14 years out, no food commercial bothers me at all because I know I have a bite or two of anything. The one thing I have not been able to eat at all is ice cream. It makes me so sick feeling and sleepy. But being thin is better than any ice cream cone! :)
February 27, 2016
Oh the commercials stop phasing me during my 3 months doctor supervision diet. Now I am able to watch anything without craving it. I made a healthy cakes with zucchini, carrots, applesauce, coconut sugar & almond flour for the family and they loved it. So everyone is on board with me. We all go to the gym together. Everyone understands the importance of being healthy. I really like my new me so far. :)

I was in the hospital for 5 days due to a breathing problem and they were concerned it would turn into pneumonia. I was discharged with an oxygen tank. That was a first for me. But the whole 5 days the only food I received was a little chicken broth and water. But that did not start until day 3. That was hell for me. My husband would come to visit me on his lunch hour and eat a cheese burger in front of me. I had to tell him not to come if he is going to bring any food with him. It smelled so good. :( But it is all worth it in the end. 14 years later I am still at normal weight. I wish you the best of luck and success!
February 27, 2016
Wow. You had a real struggle with the oxygen tank and burger teasing. But I am so happy to hear about your long term success. Stories like your helps people like me who has just started their journey. Thank You!

I am glad I could be of help. The picture of me in my aviator was taken only about 6 years after my surgery. I really need to get a new one. Nazrosy you can do this. It is very hard at first but when you get on the scales each morning and see the lbs come off it will really put a huge smile on your face. It took about 2 months for me before people started to comment on my weight loss. But you may not be done with surgery yet. I had such a huge apron of fat over hanging my belly that I had to pay $5,000 for a tummy tuck. Worth every penny and interest on my credit card. And then I had a breast reduction, but that my insurance paid for. Wow I turned into one happy women and I got promoted at work and with a huge raise. It is sad that being OW can hold you back at work.

People are seeing my results already and they are amazed by how good I am looking..face has slimmed down lots. I return to work on Monday. I can wait to see their reactions. I work in HR. Hoping for a promotion as well now that I am not viewed as a fat person. I will post an updated picture soon. I hope I don't have to do lipo. I didn't have much fat to worry about. I think I might be ok.

February 27, 2016
it is amazing how much fat we carry in our faces. I love how different my face looks now. I am normal and not FAT! Good luck with your job. I was amazed how fast my career rose after losing all my weight. You can do it too!!

Down 61 lbs, 25lbs during pre-surg and 36 post

It's been 4 mths and I have lost 36lbs since my surgery date. I am down from a size 14 to a size 10. Sometimes Size 8. My shoe size has shrunk too. EveryonEveryone tells me I look 10 yrs younger. That is so good to hear.
The only side affects I have is hair loss (which should stop in a couple of months) and smelly gas. I bought Devrom online which has help with that.
Other than that my Blood sugar levels has gone down and my metabolism is working the way it should.
