Dr. Barrera is a wonderful surgeon that came highly recommended. He was very thorough in preop medical tests. He answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable. In his care you spend 3 nights in hospital and are well attended by the nursing staff. He came to my hotel 7 days later to remove the stitches. He even gave me his cell phone number in case I had any concerns. A wonderful Doctor and a really nice guy!

Glad you are at this point! You look great! I'm not looking forward to the numbness part but I guess its part of the process and I do want the results:)

Thanks very much. The numbness is really annoying particularly in the first month but then you kind of get used to it. It feels really strange when washing. But over all the whole thing hasn't been very difficult at all. All the best to you marchwind.

Hi: I'm wondering about the swelling. How long did you have to sleep in the reclining position. You are giving me a lot of confidence. I'm so glad you decided to post pictures. You look terrific. Thanks Dianne

Hi Diane. Thanks for contacting me. My swelling was minimal throughout the process. I would say it was gone at the 3 month point. For the first month and a bit I did have lumps and bumps of fluid that seemed to be in a different spot every other day but as promised by the Doctor they all disappeared. As for sleeping in the reclining position, I only did that the night of the surgery and the following night. After that I went back to sleeping on my side by making a cup with my hand to put over my sore ears. Worked like a charm because I slept really well. The only restrictions I was given for post surgery was no coffee, alcohol, spicy food and no climbing hills. Wash hair daily and keep incision sites clean. No problem. I was out and about going for dinner within 7 days with sun glasses on. Hope this helps you out. I think I was fortunate to have had a really easy experience.

Hi: Thank you for putting my fears to rest. I'm going back to work 3 weeks after the operation & I was really getting concerned about the swelling. I'm also happy to hear I will not be sleeping in my recliner. I'm grateful that I will be going to the same Doctor. Now I know I will have to get off the coffee. I will probably have more questions. Thank you so very much. Dianne

You're welcome Dianne. 3 weeks should be plenty of time. You will be swollen and maybe have some bruising but nothing that will stand out and scream at anyone.
Yes the coffee. It drove be crazy not having my coffee. After the 5 days I drank a pot of the stuff. Best coffee I ever had. hahaha.

The time is finally here I'm leaving on Mon. date set is June 13 with Dr. Barrera. Its been a few more months. How is your numbness, hopefully a lot better. Thanks Dianne

That is terrific Diane. I am sure you will do fine. It is exciting, isn't it? The numbness is still around on the sides of my face and the tingling continues. All part of the healing process. This is a surgery where you need to pack your patience. Other than that all is back to normal and I feel really good. The support and care you receive in the hospital will be exceptional so you can put your mind at ease and concentrate on you and how spectacular you are going look. I am off on an adventure June 08 - 13 but will be sure to watch for your comments and give you all the support I can. All the best my friend!

Thank you livinsloher. I feel great!

I'm very interested In Dr Barrera also. I cant really see any change in your sideburn hairline but have heard that it can be about 10 CM less when done. Have you noticed any difference? You look great!
February 23, 2016
Hi marchwind. It is difficult to comment on the sideburn hairline as I didn't pay any attention to it before the surgery. For the most part I wear my hair down but on those days that I pull it up I don't notice anything odd with the sideburn area. I wish I could be of more help to you with this.
February 23, 2016
Well i'm 66 so to be perfectly honest I have much bigger issues then 10 cm on my sideburns! LOL I wear my hair down also and if you didn't notice then I would guess its not worth worrying about.
February 23, 2016
Yes. I think if you have any length at all the sideburn area would be covered if there is an issue. Honestly, I had never heard of this concern until I was on this site and the issue wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me in choosing Dr. Barrera. As you say I had a lot bigger issues to deal with. lol

Hi I'm really glad to see the barely visible scars. Some of the work other women have had done the scaring is terrible. I have really light skin & scar easily. Your posting has help a lot. Thanks Dianne
February 26, 2016
I am happy to know my post has helped Dianne. As we all have very different skin we all scar, bruise and swell differently. So I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have also see some of the scars on other peoples faces and they look so awful. Not sure why the incisions were done the way they were. Sloppy work or not enough experience is my guess. All the best on your adventure. Keep me posted on your adventure!

Facelift day and repose time in San Miguel de Allende

jacquieh
I am posting pics day of surgery and the week and a half following. I did not seem to have the bruising and swelling that some of the other Ladies have had, but that may be because I did not have any fat transfers done. Just a SMAS facelift, neck and eyes.
