Surgery tomorrow......dreading and nervous.....but...

Surgery tomorrow......dreading and nervous.....but tired of not letting my picture be snapped due to embarrassment. I am not looking to be "small", just smaller enough to be symmetrical and comfortable. I told the surgeon no less than a DD. And err on the side of bigger rather than smaller. DDD would even seem a relief. Why? Well, I don't want to feel like I have lost "too much of myself". A friend was surprised that I was doing this since "that has been your identity since you were 16!" Two other reasons: I am on a weight loss journey and have actually lost some breast size and plan to continue. So I don't want to end up with a C cup after more weight loss. The other reason I don't want to go too small: my tummy is pudgy along with my arms, and I don't want my smaller breasts to emphasize my tummy. They kinda cover up a lot now.! Lol. At any rate, def need lifting. Prayers up for tomorrow. I have really depended on this sight, so I feel I owe others some info as well. Ttyl!

Your comments sound familiar....I've had them in my own head. I am 7 weeks post, was a 34 G/H and know am a DD. I wanted to be a D and I could still end up there...healing takes longer than I expected, although my Dr. did liposuction under my arms so that it wouldn't look bad. I too am hoping to lose more weight and finally fit into a sports bra. It has been recommended I wear two bras if I want to jog. Best wishes, be sure to post and get encouragement here as there are bound to be mixed feelings throughout the process. Keep the faith.

Post surgical fever.....

Gravity60
One day post surgery and I have spiked a fever of anywhere from 100.8 to 101.4 depending on which thermometer you use. The surgeon gave me his cell phone number, and I followed
the instructions on the post-op sheet which said to call if it gets
Over 101. And I did. He said since its just one day after surgery to wait and see what tomorrow holds. Gonna keep check on the fever.

Research black elderberry then ask your Doctor if you can take some. It has huge antiviral and immune booster. I take it when I feel something coming on, fixes it rights. So sorry you are feeling bad!!

Thanks so much!

common body reaction to such a traumatic experience. what pain killer are you taking?, something with Tylenol in it, ie Tramacet will help the fever too.. Hang in there, take it easy, it will pass.
March 24, 2016
Oxy with Tylenol. Thanks for the encouragement. Went to 102.5. Will wait it out.
March 24, 2016
do you have any hard extra painful spots?. If it just sore all over that is normal. If the temp isn't starting to go down now, even with the tylenol might be worth another call.
March 24, 2016
Yes, I agree.
March 24, 2016
Hang in there--you're gonna do great!! Recovery will get easier and easier!!

Fluid pocket concern/post-op day 3

Gravity60
Well....I have this piece of fluid-filled breast tissue eeking out from the left side. This side had 700 removed as opposed to 200 on the other side. The surgeon gave me his cell phone # and I sent him a pic. He offered for me to come in so he could drain it. (It's Easter Friday.) Since I have my post-op on Easter Monday, I told him it could wait since it's not uncomfortable. (It may be starting to get that way, cuz the bra is pressing on it.) I forgot to tell him I was running 101.3. Hum. Hopefully, this can wait a few days since it's almost a two hour drive. It's not painful to the touch, just the compression bra resting on it.

Hope you are feeling better. I'm in Raleigh and getting a BR in May.

Dr. Coan in Durham. He's quite bright and nice. He sat and talked with me for a while getting to know me. The reviews on this site (there are a couple) praise him for his excellent work. I didn't even consult with any other doctors as he's won awards in Durham year after year. I haven't blogged (or whatever) on this site as I'd rather wait until the job is done :)

One other reason why I didn't feel the need to look further was that he doesn't use a general anesthesia (not sure about other surgeries) which is the thing that scared me the most. He uses something similar to what puts you out during a colonoscopy (but stronger).
March 27, 2016
Oops I replied at wrong place. To reiterate, this surgeon has beautiful artwork in the bathroom signed by himself. Imo, an artistic eye and hand is worth a lot!
March 26, 2016
The biggest thing is how is it going to make you feel. If it will help ease your mind for him to go ahead and see you then go ahead and have it drained. Plus you could have the fever addressed. I myself had a couple fluid pockets develop right after my surgery also. They didn't hurt either. We just watched them and made sure they didn't cause issue with the incision lines. So far we haven't had to drain mine. And there not as bad as they were to begin with.
March 26, 2016
Ok well that's encouraging. Thank you.
March 27, 2016
Thank u. Doing pretty good. Still battling fever, trending down, not up....and now the joys of post-opioid constipation. It will get worked out with time. I will post pics of my final results when I am healed up better.
March 27, 2016
Thank you....I should mention that in the bathroom, there is beautiful artwork signed by the surgeon himself. That was so reassuring. An artistic eye and hand. That counts for something!!!

Best of luck! Keep us posted!
