Antibiotic kicked in - go into surgery with a strong immune system, just sayin'

Gravity60
$7,000
Well, after 24-48 hours, I began to turn the corner. I am afraid to get other procedures after that respiratory infection. Would have been so much easier without it. Maybe it's my age. I notice I am, on the average, older than most getting the reductions. I could not really afford it til this stage in my life. It is rather daunting to go into an operating and then immediately return home. Make sure your immune system is 100% going in. Prior to this surgery, I had a UTI four days before, and a mild cold five days before. I checked with the office about the cold, and they referred me to the nurse anesthetist. Both doctor and CRNA said a mild cold should be ok. I felt good going into the surgery.

P.s. Tried to comment to the comments above, couldn't post...."thanks....you guys are so thoughtful."

Hi, I hope you are feeling better. That's rough. I'm even older than you at nearly 61. I hope you are getting plenty of rest.

Careful not to over do it!

Gravity60
Used my arms a bit too much over the weekend. Next day felt really bad. The mucous in my chest seemed thick and bothersome. Saw the dr for one week follow up. Prescribed me an antibiotic. Honestly, felt like getting horrible upper respiratory infection. Kinda worried.

Not as big as this pic makes them look!

Lol, I've noticed that with mine as well. Seems like the pictures make them look bigger than what they are especially depending on the angle. Hope you are feeling better now.

Hi, I hope you recover quickly. I don't blame you for worrying. I'm sure the antibiotic will kick in and you'll be on the mend soon. Take it easy.

Fluid pocket concern/post-op day 3

Gravity60
Well....I have this piece of fluid-filled breast tissue eeking out from the left side. This side had 700 removed as opposed to 200 on the other side. The surgeon gave me his cell phone # and I sent him a pic. He offered for me to come in so he could drain it. (It's Easter Friday.) Since I have my post-op on Easter Monday, I told him it could wait since it's not uncomfortable. (It may be starting to get that way, cuz the bra is pressing on it.) I forgot to tell him I was running 101.3. Hum. Hopefully, this can wait a few days since it's almost a two hour drive. It's not painful to the touch, just the compression bra resting on it.

Hope you are feeling better. I'm in Raleigh and getting a BR in May.

What surgeon is doing it gobi? I'm in final stages of choosing a surgeon (Raleigh area) for a TT--hopefully late summer.

Dr. Coan in Durham. He's quite bright and nice. He sat and talked with me for a while getting to know me. The reviews on this site (there are a couple) praise him for his excellent work. I didn't even consult with any other doctors as he's won awards in Durham year after year. I haven't blogged (or whatever) on this site as I'd rather wait until the job is done :)

One other reason why I didn't feel the need to look further was that he doesn't use a general anesthesia (not sure about other surgeries) which is the thing that scared me the most. He uses something similar to what puts you out during a colonoscopy (but stronger).

Oops I replied at wrong place. To reiterate, this surgeon has beautiful artwork in the bathroom signed by himself. Imo, an artistic eye and hand is worth a lot!

The biggest thing is how is it going to make you feel. If it will help ease your mind for him to go ahead and see you then go ahead and have it drained. Plus you could have the fever addressed. I myself had a couple fluid pockets develop right after my surgery also. They didn't hurt either. We just watched them and made sure they didn't cause issue with the incision lines. So far we haven't had to drain mine. And there not as bad as they were to begin with.

Ok well that's encouraging. Thank you.

Thank u. Doing pretty good. Still battling fever, trending down, not up....and now the joys of post-opioid constipation. It will get worked out with time. I will post pics of my final results when I am healed up better.

Thank you....I should mention that in the bathroom, there is beautiful artwork signed by the surgeon himself. That was so reassuring. An artistic eye and hand. That counts for something!!!
