I've suffered from hyperdriosis my entire life. ...

I've suffered from hyperdriosis my entire life. I'm about to turn 30 and my closet is full of black clothes, loose tops, and tons of stained/crunchy shirts. I went to the doctor to get a refill on my Robinul - a medicine with a possible side effect of decreased sweating - which I have been taking for 10+ years, when he mentioned the treatment Miradry. As soon as i left his office I called my mom and started bawling my eyes out because I would finally be able to live like a "normal" person. No more sweaty dates from being nervous, no more crying from my armpits when my eyes cried as well, no more black and FINALLY id get to wear tight-ish shirts.

The procedure was not exactly delightful. The injections initially was the worst part, but after the first 10, the middle starts to get numb and you don't really feel the next 30. I had one armpit that seemed to take to the procedure worse during it - certain nerves didn't take to the numbing so there were about 4 or 5 area where it felt like the nurse was holding a curling iron to my bare skin. That was awful. But surprisingly after the treatment and during healing, it was the other armpit that seemed to take longer to heal.

I dont know what people do for a living that they went back to work the same day as treatment, but for me - someone who hols a 9-5 DESK JOB, there is no way I could have gone in. The ibuprofen wore off before I got him (had to travel a couple hours for the treatment) and it felt like the absolute worst razor burn of my life... on top of lemon sized armpits. I worked from home for at least a week so i could constantly keep icepacks on and stay comfortable. COLD PACKS. COLD PACKS. COLD PACKS. Get at least 3 or 4 packs and keep rotating them. Also don't expect to wear a tanktop in public for a least 2 weeks until the swelling and bruising goes down... its not pretty. Even after bruising and what not gets better, my armpits felt tight. It took me a while to be able to reach my arms above my head to get things of shelves - or in my case my carry-on luggage out of the overhead bin on a plan. That was fun.

If you are like me and have been taking medicine for hyperhidrosis and hope to stop taking it because of the surgery... you might reconsider. I stopped taking Robinul before my appointment, but i noticed sweating in my groin area that I hadnt noticed before. I blamed it on weather, clothing, shaving etc. until i finally realized I had excessive sweating in my apocrine glands (armpits and genital regions). Sadly for me I had to continue taking my meds, BUT I am still FAR BETTER OFF than I was before miradry.

Pros: Less sweating, gained confidence, new wardrobe, "pretty girl armpits" for a few weeks - it later started to look like normal, but still a pro nonetheless
Cons: pain for a few weeks, random tightness in armpits 3-4 months after 1st procedure

I cancelled my scheduled second procedure because the first one went so well, and also I wanted to wear tanks on vacation (follow up was May 4th). I may consider doing the second appointment in November, but for now, I am happy with my results.

Brittany was absolutely amazing to have for my procedure. She had the procedure done herself so she was very knowledgeable on what to expect. When i had some issues afterwards, she gave me her personal cell to text or contact whenever I needed.
