It's now been 12 months since the LHR burns to my lower legs. It took a full year, but my pigmentation came back and fully recovered! You would never know what happened by looking at them now. I am SO relieved and feel incredibly lucky to have a full recovery. :-)

Hi! Did you do anything or does it resolve on its own?
October 11, 2015
I tried a few things along the way, but honestly, it was time that resolved it. After about 8 months I did use light therapy (very limited uv exposure) to help stimulate the melanocytes. I think that helped a little, but time and patience is the cure.

My hypo pigmented spots are definitely improving. I uploaded some pics from today. I do not have a tan or spray tan in these pics, but I've gone to a tanning bed 6 times for 8 minutes each session over the last couple months. I'm not sure if that has helped or it's just the time that's helping, but I'm thankful for the improvement. I also tried spray tanning about a month ago and that worked really well!! So at least I have that option to use during the spring and summer. :-)

I'm now 5 months post LHR. The hypopigmentation remains. It's less noticeable, but from a few feet away it is still visible enough that I won't bare my lower legs if they stay this way. I've consulted with Shidler Dermatology in Carmel, IN for advice. They are going to try "light box" therapy on me in a few weeks. It's a controlled, specific UV exposure intended to encourage melanocyte migration into the hypopigmented areas. It's worth a try! In fact, it's my last hope.

The same thing happend to me on my legs after my second LHR treatment. I was tan and the laser targeted the melanin in skin as opposed to the hair! I had the same hypopigmented spots all over my legs for about 8 months . As my tan faded like in your case the spots became less noticeable. I exfoliated everyday and introduced UV Rays in small doses and the spots are 90% gone. The hypopigmentation will get better it just takes time . Good luck :)

Thank you for your comment. I just posted updated pics. It's much better now, but not gone. I'm 7 months out now.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you are seeing some improvement. Keep us posted on how the light box treatment goes, hopefully it helps resolve the hypopigmentation.

You should NEVER have been allowed to do the treatment with an active tan ... that's malpractice plain and simple. I get people come in every day practically begging to have the treatment done, because of the schedule, or they aren't worried ... or what-have-you ... we've heard it all. Never give a treatment until 4 weeks after an active tan or less than 2 weeks before sun exposure. plain and simple.

How is it going? I did facial removal and REGRET IT!!!! It has been two years and still having problems with small white heads, light blistery redness, and super dry skin that I did not have before.
