Terrible Experience.
I had the same breast implants for 35 yrs with no problems. The last couple years I had capsular contracture. Dr. Wilcox advices me to have bilateral capsulectomy with replacement of implants. I felt a little pressured into the new implants. I was 65 yrs. old and didn’t want to have the same thing happen again when I was 90. Within the first year, I was back to square 1 again, only worse. I was unable to have a mammogram due to encapsulation in both breasts! I saw Dr. Wilcox on 4/10/18. He performed a CLOSED CAPSULOTOMY, manually applying pressure with his hands,in the hope the scare tissue around the implant would be broken. This procedure was done in his office and was VERY painful! He had me come back every week, then every couple weeks. During this time, I was also prescribed Levofloxacin and vitamin E. I was to have my husband aggressively massage my implants and lie on a stack of hard cover books on the floor for 10 mins. every day. In Sept. of 2018, I decided to have the implants removed. Dr. Wilcox scheduled explantation for 10/29/18 and was surprised that I didn’t want implants replaced. I also didn’t want a breast lift but he scheduled me for one anyway. I asked to see photos of women that had explantations and no breast lift but evidently, that would be too much of a bother bc he wouldn’t. At my pre-op appt., he still had me scheduled for breast lift. When he did my first explantation, he gave me an operative report. After my second explantation, there was nothing. He did not remove the scar tissue or capsules. He said that my “body would obsorb it.” I had to ask for a operative report! Almost 3 mos. now after this surgery, I feel great! I never had a breast lift and one side looks very normal. The other side, which is the side he applied extreme pressure to pop the capsules, looks deformed. On top of that, the stitches look like someone untrained closed me up. It is a total mess! I am embarrassed that I didn’t do a better job of researching Dr. Wilcox to begin with. His procedures are outdated and no longer practiced. He will pressure you into lifts when not necessary or implants. I hope this review will be helpful to others.
