Here we go.....I'm 57 (5'3" & 150 lbs.) and scheduled to have a tummy tuck on October 7, 2013. I have talked myself in and out of it every day, but all I have to do is look in a full length mirror to know I will do it! I see my doctor tomorrow to go over everything. I have 3 sons, (37, 34, 28) who were all large babies. Any and all words of encouragement will be appreciated!

I went to the doctor today and everything is a go! And I found out that I've lost 3 pounds!! No turning back now.....I paid for it today! The surgery center called me to go over medical issues and everything is clear for the surgery. I'm so excited & nervous at the same time!

A little back story......I had breast cancer last year. I had a lumpectomy on my right breast with another surgery a month later....followed by 25 doses of radiation. While I was happy to be rid of the cancer, I was not happy with my breasts. I had reconstruction surgery in May of this year. My breasts look great and only magnified how ugly my abs (or lack of) were. So, with the support of my hub, I decided to keep on going and get a TT.

Tom'sWife, LOL!!! I said the same thing to My Dr.! I said I don't wanna look like Joan Rivers! Lol! That's why I agreed upon the lower face lift. Just a SMALL one!!! Don't want my face pulled so far back that I look like a monster!!! Lol! And thank you so very much for the prayers for my Son. As a matter of fact we leave for Memphis tomorrow for him to get an injection in his eye. Memphis is where all of his specialists are. And he's been getting injections in that eye every 6 wks.
Be his 4th injection. He was a radiologist in Orlando... Now he's having to get another degree In something else due to the loss of sight in that eye.. And can't be around radioactive anything . But, as a Momma... I know My oldest Baby will be healed! :):):). So, keep
Me
Posted on your surgery!!! I know the closer it gets the more excited & nervous you will get! :) BUT, IT'S SO VERY WORTH IT!!! :). I even wore a bikini to beach in August! Having been able to wear a bikini in over 10 years! Lol! :)
September 26, 2013
Good luck to your son! Sending healing thoughts your way!! A bikini? And did I read on your profile that your hub bought you a car cuz you were so hot? We live on a farm....my husband would think a new tractor appropriate!
September 26, 2013
ROFLMBO Tom'sWife!!! A tractor! :). I think he bought the camero for himself!!! Lol! Because... We looked @ cars & trucks the night before my surgery. And I told him I DO NOT WANT A CAMERO!!! I wanted one when they were showing future cars back then... And a camero was one of those.. But, I'm 50...NOT in my 20's! They r low to the ground & I've had knee surgery due to a torn meniscus 8 yrs ago and getting in & out of that car isn't fun! Lol! It's a 2 door... So the door seems to weigh 50 lbs!! Lol! I admit its a beautiful car...fully loaded with sunroof, heated seats... But, it's a younger persons car. Truly, I believe he's going thru midlife crisis & got it for himself! Lol! He drives it on weekends.... (More than I do!)... And WHY would u get your Wife a car the 8 days after she had major surgery KNOWING I couldn't even walk out there to look at it; didn't pick it out; didn't drive it when it read ZERO miles... LOL! When I finally got to ride in it I had to put 2 pillows in it and it already had 322 miles on it! Bahahahaha!!! I have a 2008 Cadillac CTS that I LOVE!!! I know it's 5 yrs old... And it has over 100,000 miles... But, I LUV IT!!! :) I asked car dealership could I trade it in on the new Cadillac CTS that's coming out in November and they said no. And as for being Hot Momma... I've got a long way to go!!!! LOL!!! Need my arms and legs toned badly!!! But, it feels so weird having a flat tummy again!!! Lol! I was so use to having a 2nd lap & wearing BIG t-shirts and lightweight jackets even in 80
Degree temps! :) I'm so glad I got to meet you on here! I tell you what.... You will be ONE HOT MOMMA in a Bikini on a NEW Tractor For Sure!!!! :):):)
September 27, 2013
Maybe I'll take a picture of me in a bikini on the tractor just for you! The cows will run for the south 40 like the wind!
September 27, 2013
I have a question for you.....what kind of clothes did you wear right after the surgery? I'm trying to figure out what I need to get. I'm always ready to go shopping!!
September 27, 2013
I got some Nike thin kinda like sweat pants that tie from Academy.... And elastic tie pj pants & big t-shirts...
September 27, 2013
Thanks TT Friend! Today marks my 10-day countdown. Yikes! Trying to get the rest of my canning done and the house in order. How did things go for your son in Memphis?
September 28, 2013
Well, I reserved room for Fri. Instead of Thurs. & there was a music festival going on! Lol! So we found a room @ 10:30 last night. Anyways.. They did IV contrast to get better view of eye blood vessels... He does have bad glaucoma in that eye now.. But eye pressure was good & bleeding of vessels has stopped for now. So, he didn't have to get injection in eye. We go back Dec. 9 to see the same eye blood vessel dr & his Tumor dr on that same day. If bleeding has started again they'll do the round of injections in eye again... Tumor has still shrunk... But, if it does start back with bleeding vessels then they might have to take his eye. My Son & I are PRAYING hard that will not happen!!!! And then someone took his phone! I went up there and made a scene! Saying that's pretty sad for someone to steal a phone from someone that has cancer! And that I hope whoever did it ROTS IN HELL!!! So we left clinic and came back & it was in parking garage next to trash can!!! Someone stole his phone before when he was on chemo! They knocked at door and he answered... Kid said his car broke down could he use my sons phone & my son said sure! Then the kid ran off with his phone! My Son was too weak to chase him! SAD, SAD World when people start stealing from cancer patients! But, other than that.... He's spun much better since he got this phone back! Thanks so much for asking about him! :)

It's just awful that he has to go through this! You never want anything to happen to your kids! My sister lost a daughter to liver cancer when she was 22. It's the hardest thing in the world! I will want to know about your son LONG after the whole TT ordeal! I have thoroughly enjoyed our conversations! So, tell me, were you able to climb stairs after the surgery? We live in a 163 yr old brick farmhouse. All the bedrooms are upstairs. I'm afraid once I get to my room, I won't be able to go back downstairs again!! It's just the unknowns that have me in a tizzy! But hey, I survived cancer and a BA....so what's a little TT??
September 28, 2013
I couldn't walk up our stairs for at least a week.... Thank God I've got French doors to my bedroom from outside! Lol! That's where I came in at.... The first week is kinda a blur to me. I was coming out of 7-8 hrs worth of anesthesia and pain meds! I'm a nurse... And most of us r hard headed! So.... I tried to hold out on pain meds @ 1st... Then I listened to everyone else! Take them as directed for at least first 5-10 days!!!! And let everyone wait on you! :)
September 28, 2013
I'm torn......my bedroom is upstairs and we have a sleep number bed that adjusts. I guess I'll just wait and see how I feel. I will most certainly take the pain meds until I don't need them. I have a high threshold for pain, but I don't want to be dumb about it.
September 30, 2013
My surgery is a week from tomorrow.....any advice on getting through the final week?
September 30, 2013
Stay busy! Make sure u have everything u need.... & a list for people that r going to help u(errands they may need to run for you)..... I got ZERO sleep the nigh before mine! Plus... We stayed in hotel that was behind the surgery center! And the room we had.... I pulled open the curtains and there was the surgery center! LOL!!! I should've asked for a room on the other side of hotel! LmBO!!! :)
September 30, 2013
Funny!! I'm making pear honey today, doing my son's laundry, dinner in the crockpot. Just my luck, the house painters showed up today to start painting the trim on our house......they'll be here for several weeks! UGH!! I completely forgot they were going to start today! One week to go.......
October 1, 2013
It'll be here before you know it!!! And you will be SO HAPPY that you did this!!!! :)
September 26, 2013
I'm 14 weeks post op, and even though I had a minor complication of a necrotic wound, I would do a full TT again in a minute. Best of luck with your surgery. See u on the flat side!
September 26, 2013
Can Someone explain/describe exactly what a necrotic wound is? I have heard numerous terms regarding complications/reactions and not sure what exactly they are/mean? Also, can you provide advise and/or suggestions on the best way (other than the "rice test") to choose the right breast size?
September 26, 2013
Thank you so much! I hope your minor complication worked out okay! See you on the flat side....I like that!!
September 27, 2013
A necrotic wound happens when there isn't enough blood flow to the incision site. In general, often due to smoking or diabetes. It also seems more common in post bariatric patients due ti poor blood flow in the loose skin. In TT procedures, can also be due to too tight of a compression garment, which was my case. So the skin/incision turns black due to lack of circulation, then sometimes the flesh under the surface skin dies, therefore a wound. Many different sizes and depths, so treating them varies.
