Okay so I've been wanting to get my teeth done for...
Okay so I've been wanting to get my teeth done for a minute. I had priced it with my dentist and others and it always seemed a ridiculous price. That's when I decided to start looking outside the U.S. once again. I knew it would be a hassle of getting it together, but become fond of these medical vacations.
Through google I found a site medigo that list about 5 countries. 3 of them being countries I had traveled to previously; DR, Costa Rica, & Mexico.
Cancun had the best prices starting at $100 a tooth for composite veneers. I started to watch videos on YouTube and reading about the difference in all of the veneers. I finally made a decision on composite because you teeth don't have to be shaved down to nubs with composite and they can be removed at anytime.
I narrowed down my search to Ocean Dental Cancun. They charged $150 a tooth for composite and $300 for porcelain. The downtime was the ultimate deciding factor. Composites take generally 1-3 to perfect, while porcelain can take 7 -10 days. I didn't have that kind of time so I went with composite.
The coordinator Lindsay from Ocean Dental Cancun was awesome. She made sure I had my hotel, my transportation around Cancun, and her respoinse time was always within a few hours. She also callled daily to check in.
When I arrived in cancun the driver took me to Ocean Dental which is loctaed in the tourist hotel zone of Cancun, this is a major plus if you are worried about the dangers of traveling to Mexico. I went alone so this made a world of difference. Everyone in Ocean Dental speaks dual languages, so there is no language barrier. This was not the case when I wen to the DR.
The place is across from the nicesest resorts in Cancun, and it is top of the line equipment. I currenlty go to a high end dentist office in the U.S. where teeth whiting cost over $600 and this place came pretty close to rivaling the one in the U.S.
Everything is modernized, and my doctor was extremely knowledgeable and kind. They took a 3D xray of my teeth and did a detailed examination before following through with my veneers. I was given a discount for 6 teeth. Did I mention everyone in this place has an excellent bright white smile.
They started within the hour of arriving so none of that extended wait time you get normally when you leave out the country. 4 hours later and and extended YouTube playlist of pop American videos on the flat screen in the ceiling for patients to watch while they get dental work. I was finished with the first round.
I at first was hesitant because I didn't like them,, but the doctor assured me that the refining of the composites would begin the next day, but that my mouth needed to rest. My gums had to be cut due to the unevenness of my original teeth.
There must have been 10 American patients coming in and out being seen while I was there.
The next day I brought a picture of how I wanted them more refined and he went to work. At anytime when he did a look I didn't like, he fixed it.
I was only there a day so I had to rush to get back to the U.S. I will be returning for some more bleaching of my bottoms simply because I rushed. However, I have received countless complements on my smile.
