How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

Booking Surgery and follow up consult
So Dr Tonks had made me feel so confident I booked in a date then and there.
With Dr Tonks you have to pay up front 2 weeks prior. This date came up and I called BUPA who said I hadn't completed my waiting periods. Who was I to argue with the person on the other end of the phone? Even though I'm sure I had. I let the surgery date laps and didn't pay the deposit.
Due to personal circumstances I had a time frame I really needed to have the surgery or it would e inconvenient location wise. I called up and booked a new surgery date with Dr Tonks and another consultation. I thought if he can't make them as small as I want I will go with Dr Taylor. This time I made sure my BF could come along too.
We waited to see Dr Tonks. My BF commented about the differences in waiting room styles. Dr Taylor's
was more plastic surgeon TV typical. While Dr Tonks still exuded 'plastic surgeon' it was more subtle.
We went in and Dr Tonks greater us warmly. We discussed my only concerns then my BF had some questions which he was happy to answer. I left 100% confident the size would be right and happy with my surgeon.
The date was all booked and I handed in my paper work.
I had already spoken to the anaesthetist over the phone so it was all systems go.
2 weeks prior to my surgery I hadn't heard from them so I called up regarding payment. The worst thing had happened. Somehow
My booking wasn't there. I had changed work and personal life stuff and so had my BF for this. Very kindly they 'some how
Squeezed me in'. I paid the full amount. All systems go.

Consultation with Dr Taylor
In contrast to Dr Tonks visit, my BF came with me to Dr Taylor.
When he saw me he discussed the procedure very matter of factly then told me to go into the next room and remove my TShirt and bra. He did his inspection then pulled out a camera. I did not feel I had the right to refuse. It was just this is what will happen now. I felt rather violated. He did not seem to have any empathy for my embarrassment as he took copious photos from every possible angle. Once my consultation with him was finished (which wasn't as bad as it sounded) I was taken into another room to see a nurse. I think it was his wife. She talked me through the pre and post op procedures and what they would do for me in their private hospital and all the supplements they would give me prior to surgery. It sounded great.
We left with differing opinions. my BF thought the surgeon knew what he was talking about and everything sounded very good. I was confident he would give me the small size I wanted but thought him arrogant and uncaring. I knew he would do a good job though.

Consultation with Dr Tonks
I had booked my appointments close together however Dr Tonks office rang me and offered an appointment a few weeks in advance. I took it and drove the 2 hours to Canberra by myself as my BF couldn't get the time off work. Although a busy area of Canberra Dr Tonks has parking under his office which was easy. I went up and into reception where I filled out the necessary forms ( I lacked a lot of info) and waited. I had my list of questions in my head ready to go and my justification for why I needed this. When Dr Tonks came out he was friendly and calming. He spoke with me in a way in which I understood and the best way of describing it was a negotiation. I was really nervous but he put my mind at ease. He was polite and respectful. He understood my embarrassment of undressing and said I didn't have to take pre photos if I didn't want to. He answered my extensive list of questions including my 'so how qualified are you really' ones. He was proud of his achievements but just short of arrogant.
I left feeling really good and determined I was now going to have the reduction. I was happy he would be my surgeon. The only thing I wasn't 100% sure about was if he would go small enough
