Don't think my face will ever improve...just hope this isn't progressive
$300
I've noticed dents in my face I've never had before. If this is natural aging - it's a weird way to age - little random depressions and dents where the volume/fat is now gone. God, if only I could turn back time - what a horrible mistake. I'd rather have rosacea than a sagging, dented face. The doctor who did the first two IPLs doesn't work there anymore and that dermatology office no longer offers IPL treatments. Consulted the dermatologist & nurse who did the third IPL - they were kind and respectful, but said they have never seen this happen before....and at any rate - I think the worst damage was already done by the very agressive first IPL.

trying various "solutions"
perhaps I am imagining this ( or I'm completely deluded) - but I see some very small improvements. Here's what I am doing: meditation, face yoga, very healthy eating, getting enough sleep, drinking a lot of water and green tea. My face will never be 100% - you can't get "fat" back, but all the of the above seems to be having "somewhat" of a positive effect on my face. When I'm stressed or tired - the gauntness is exaggerated. The stress of what this has done, has made my face worse - so all I can do is try to control my reaction to it.

I had my first IPL in March 2011, second in April 2012 and last in May 2014. I am shocked at how aged and haggard looking I have become. I can think of no other reason for the fat loss in my face - which steadily progresses until my face became haggard and old looking. New dents appear every day, jowls, nasolabial lines and marionette lines worsen from the volume loss in the cheeks. If I only I could turn back time - I would live with my rosacea! Far better to have a full face than a gaunt, haggard face.

Same here. A plastic surgeon thinks he can help, treats approx one person every week reporting the same thing. I also have dry yes, trouble focusing and constant eye pain. Not sure what can be done about that. Hoping the pain stops.

@Ruga, what is the plastic surgeon suggesting - a fat transfer? Only other option is fillers - expensive as they don't last very long.

Could you tell me the options that you were told? There are a few nightmare stories about fat transfer on RealSelf. Although I've seen photos that look like success stories as well. I am thinking of booking an appointment with a plastic surgeon myself. However, the idea of letting another doctor touch my face scares the hell out of me.

Hi Kate, I'm pretty nervous too so am taking my time and doing lots of research. I have a couple of consultations lined up and a list of questions at the ready. I have the first in mid November and will share the advice given x
