I've had braces for 3 years now, and it seems to me that the orthodontist can't fix my smile. Every appointment I go to, they give me the same look and reaction of "Man, her smile is still slanted." This worries me since it seems like it can never be fixed. Now, I found out that they're taking my braces off once I go to my next appointment! But I'm still not confident with my smile and I am getting worried that they don't know what to do next. All they do is repeat the same procedure of using rubber bands to bring down my teeth, but obviously that is not helping. When I started going to this orthodontist, they said I had a cross bite and a slanted smile, to me it still seems like I have this problem. Not only that, but my midline is also off and yet they still wanna take my braces off. When I asked them about it, their answer is "if you want to continue wearing braces, you can. We'll just keep using the rubber bands to bring down your teeth." However, this is what they have ALWAYS been doing! It seems to me that they can't see the big picture that the rubber bands are not helping with the rest of my teeth. Please help me make my smile straight. :(

I think your best bet would be to try and make an appointment with a different orthodontist while you still have your braces on. Perhaps a different doctor with more experience will come up with a different strategy on how to straighten your smile. But don't let them take the braces off, because if you go to a new place they will end up charging you again just to put them back on.

Okay I'll be sure to do that. Thank you! :)

Hi Diana... so what's the word? Did you get a second opinion? What happened with your smile?

Did you find anything out from your ortho or a different one?

I'll be getting it out next month and this is the best they can do. I guess I wasn't born to get a perfect smile. However, I'm embracing it as long as I don't have any complications later in life hahaha.

Dear i sympathise with your plight!! Sometimes its genuine incompetency of surgeons to diagnose and treat conditions appropriately and accurately and sometimes its complete complacency on behalf of surgeons who do not fully realise the seriousness of the matter to the patient to whom the remedy of the problem means an alteration of the quality of life and much more. Anyways hope you win. Keep me informed.

Thank you for your concern. I have realized that not all problems can be solved and I've decided to accept how my teeth is. I'll be getting my braces off next month and I'm going to trust my orthodontist when they say "there's nothing else that needs to be done." I don't believe my teeth can be perfectly straightened but then again, there also shouldn't be any serious problems. Therefore, I'm being open-minded about my teeth. :) Nothing to worry about anymore. But thank you!
