Hating my Implants! - California

ORIGINAL POST

I'm 47 and have had my implants in for 7 years....

WORTH IT$2,500
I'm 47 and have had my implants in for 7 years. I've always felt like they make me look overweight. After thinking about it for so long I found all you ladies and your wonderful stories, and its nice to know I'm not the only one. I went for a consult with the plastic surgeon that put them in. He was great but said I would definitely need reconstruction and it would cost $8000.00! That's more than I paid to put them in. I read a review on here about a plastic surgeon in Newport beach California that takes them out through a small incision under the nipple and she does it with a local so it only takes an hour and its $2500.00! I'm torn about the reconstruction tho?? I'm definitely doing this!!!! Any advise???

Hi Hhprnails--many of the women on this site had their implants removed with no reconstruction or lift.  A lot is determined by how large the implants are, how long you've had them, how youthful your skin is, etc.  I'm sure you'll be hearing from some of the amazing women who had only explantation.  Personally, I had explantation, capsulectomy, and internal lift. You can see my story at 2B Healthy.

Thankyou for the information! Is 2B Healthy a website? All I found was senior fitness group!

Just put 2B Healthy into the search box for RealSelf.  It's the title of my Review. :-)

I'm 30 and have had mine for 6 years. I'm having mine removed under local anesthesia next week. I was a small b and now am a full c. My doctor told me that after I'm done having kids I will need a lift and small implant. But after seeing so many pictures from the women on here there is no way I'm doing any thing else once they are out. It's amazing how much the skin retracts after having the implants removed. After my second consult my doctor told me I should be very close to what I was before and that sounds wonderful to me. Good luck in your journey and this site I'm sure will help you with your decision. Wish me good luck:)

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf! I would suggest consulting a few different board certified plastic surgeons in your area to see if they would all have that same approach. You might be surprised how doctors, even in the same area, might approach situations very differently.

We are glad you're here, please keep us updated on this journey!

Thanks to someone's story on here she gave me the courage to actually do something about it. I made an appt with the referred doctor and she is wonderful! She is going to remove my implants under local anesthesia and should only take an hour! The cost is 2500.00 which is a great price. I'm very excited!!

Looks like we are having them out on nearly the same day. I'm scheduled 7/19. I'm glad you were able to find a PS you were comfortable with and was affordable. I look forward to following your journey.

I'm afraid of the same thing, but I see so many photos on here of women snapping back. IT's amazing. Try to stay positive. I'm one day after you.

You look fantastic already!! But it sounds like you will be happier without them! Better to do it now!!

I'm 43 and have had mine for 18 years. I explanted through a small incision under my breast. Honestly I don't know how he got them out- the incision is so small!!! I didn't want him to cut my nipple! I think you should give your body 3-6 months to heal before you do a lift. I think you will be happy and realize that you don't need it after all. They are not saggy but the are not balloon full either... I couldn't be happier!
July 9, 2013
Wow 18 years I can't imagine! Did you do it under local anesthesia ?? Thank you for the advise I think I will wait to see and hope they are not too bad!

Dear Hating My Breasts, I too want to remove my implants. Your pictures hit home with me because we could be twins as far as the implants look. I think they look fine, but hate the way they feel and am tired of the challenges with clothing. I am fearful of the out come of removal, and commend you on moving forward. I would love to see the results after your procedure, and maybe will have courage to proceed like you. I will keep you in my thoughts.
July 9, 2013
Thankyou so much! You sound just like me! Keep reading and watching results and it will give you the courage. I'm actually shocked how much better these women look after having them out. But I am scared that I won't be as lucky. There's only one way to find out!

I am in the same boat. Mine look the same and I feel like they just make me look fat. I just had them done 1 year ago, so I feel badly about the $10,000 wasted in the first place! But Finding bras and clothing has never been more difficult. I am a 32 G, and all I wanted was to go from a C cup to a D cup, lifted. He made me a G cup, supposedly lifted, but they are so big and heavy that they just look like big heavy boobs! I would rather have just done a lift and had a B cup in the end! Anyway, good luck to you!!! I hope everything works out and can't wait to hear about your results! :)

I cannot imagine having Gs!!! You poor thing! I should of just got a lift too, have you had a consult yet? It doesn't matter if you have had them for 1year or 10 years if you don't like them ans you can swing it financially you should seriously consider. I have wanted mine out for about 3 years and if it wasn't for hearing all these great stories I wouldn't of done it. Just keep watching all the results and hopefully it will give you the courage! I only have a few days and then you can see mine!!

It's awful. They are big, droopy, and in my way. I am actually seeing my surgeon tomorrow. I have gone back 3 other times to complain that he made them too big, but somehow he convinces me otherwise. I try to stand my ground, but just never happens. This time, I hope I can be more courageous, especially since it seems like I'm having a problem with the one side. I don't know. I am hoping that he offers to just remove them no charge. Of course I will still have to pay surgical center fees, etc. My husband is supporting me with whatever I decide, which is wonderful, but I still feel terrible for having gone through all of this. We spent so much money not only on the surgery, but I have purchased so many darn bras that I could probably open up a small store and sell them! I still haven't even found the perfect one :/ I can't wait to find out how everything goes for you. Good luck!

NO! No sagging to the floor or any of that! You are going to look awesome. Of course, you aren't going to believe me saying it now, but wait and see! Seeing your pic reminds me of how the weight of the implants stretch the areolas - mine were like dinner plates! This is where a lot of my "fluffing" came from, just from the areolas shrinking down to size. We all have to prepare ourselves "for the worst" before any surgery, but stay positive! I wish you a safe, successful surgery - you are going to look awesome though, really!
