Is Forehead Reduction Worth It?

ORIGINAL POST

I have been self-conscious about my forehead since...

uf_gatorgirl
I have been self-conscious about my forehead since ninth grade after people started pointing out how large it is. I do not like when the wind blows or wearing my hair back because it looks so big compared to the rest of my face. I am tired of having bangs to cover up my forehead and I do not want to live like this forever. I had a consultation and was told I would have to have a two stage procedure that I am not interested in. I was also told by another Dr. in California that he would be able to do the procedure with only one stage. This sounds amazing but is it too good to be true? He has very good reviews on all of his surgeries in the past but I am terrified of the hairline looking unnatural and the scar stretching because my scalp is so tight. Any opinions would be great! I still have some saving to do so it would be a while if I did decide to have it.

Check out dr kabaker and dr aharanov. I have consultations with both next week. My forehead looks a lot like yours, so we'll see what each of them say. I'll keep u posted. Both doctors seem to have amazing results. Just based on pictures, I'm leaning towards aharanov.

Thanks I would really appreciate it! I sent in pictures to Dr. Aharanov a few years ago and he told me he would be able to do the procedure but it is so scary to think about something going wrong. I have read a lot of good reviews but I have also read about peoples scars looking bad and the hairline looking unnatural after the procedure. I have also read about people experiencing hair loss that never grew back but it is hard to know what is true just by reading things on the internet. Let me know how your consultations go

I've only seen one complaint about dr kabaker with a patient who has had excessive hair loss after the surgery which makes me sort of skeptical about kabaker. The review said that the patients reduction was too tight that it caused trauma to the hairline.

YES! Totally worth it! I had a forehead even bigger than yours and this surgery has changed my life. Everything you say resonates with me so much. I live in Australia and had mine done with Dr Nettle in January. Feel free to private message me with any queries you have :)

Thanks so much for being open about your experience. I just recently found out this surgery is possible. I'm super excited and nervous about the thought of having it done. I too am torn between Dr Aharanov and Dr Kabaker. I still need to have consults with both which I'm sure will help finalize my decision. My big concern is the scar and hair thinning/loss which a few have experienced with Dr. Kabaker. I also only want my hairline lowered about 1". The thought of a visible scar makes me shy about because then I'd be trading one insecurity for another. Thanks for any pics and info...it's really reassuring.

Hi guys...
I did an enormous mount of research and because the scar bothered me because I already had a botched job (not hairline lowering)with another TOP surgeon I wanted to really be careful.
I think the best thing to do although it is even more expensive is to have some transplant grafts done at the same time so as to hide the scar.

Do you mind me asking if you had grafts done after the surgery? If so, is your scar totally concealed? Thanks!!

Yes it is entirely possible and not too good to be true!! I had the procedure done in California by, I assume the same Doctor you're speaking of. Dr. Aharonov is who did my hairline lowering and he is a master at his craft. He lowered my hairline an inch, which was all it needed, but with the patient before me, he was able to lower her hairline 6 centimeters successfully in a one stage procedure. My life has changed so much for the better since the procedure. I had all the same issues and insecurities you did and it took me years to find, both the right doctor and the confidence to do it. Now I have so much freedom and confidence. I wouldn't go with just any doctor and DO NOT do the 2- step procedure!!! You will not regret it with this Doctor. He also keep close tabs on your recovery and really cares about his patients.

I'm so happy for you!! Do you have thick hair and is your scar noticeable? Can you wear your hair back without people noticing? I have thinner hair and worried able visible scarring. I might need to consider transplants at the time of surgery. Thanks for your info!
