I've has neck and shoulder issues and breasts that seem to keep growing larger as years pass on my petite frame.
I have some asymmetry which the Dr will plan to correct. I have very full, dense breasts with some sagging.
I have had my consultation, and right after sent in for insurance authorization. The Dr marked me up at the consult and predicted he would take 350 grams off the right, and 150 grams from the left.
I was skeptical if insurance would approve or come back with a larger amount of removal required.
Within 3 weeks, I received my approval letter with no contingencies. My doctors proposed plan was accepted!

That's awesome! The asymmetry I think helps because of the "reconstructive" aspect. Anyway congratulations on your approval and hope everything else goes smoothly!

Had pre op appointment

I had my preop appointment this week. Tomorrow will be one week until surgery date. Time has really flown by.
Since my BR is covered by insurance, the doctor stressed that the surgery is for reduction purposes and not for aesthetics. He reminded me of the scarring, possible loss of sensation, possibility of asymmetry and uneven or different sized nipples. He also said that he will perform the surgery and try to have a nice result, but didn't want me to have expectations of perfect breasts.
I will be provided a post surgery bra and was told I do not need to purchase any additional supplies for post op care.
I do have two front zip size medium sports bras to use once I am out of the post surgery bra.
I don't need to bring anything to the hospital, and do need a ride home.
I got prescriptions for pain, anti inflammatory, antibiotic, and Nausea. They are all for after the surgery.
The doctor did not seem to want to talk about cup size, but more about volume to be removed and making me proportional. He said he plans to remove about 30% of my breast tissue, and noted that I said I am okay with a C cup.
I sure hope he removes enough.
I do not want to be anything bigger than a D and would prefer a full C.
He drew on my breasts and showed me where new nipple placement will be. It looked good! I should see a nice lift. Right now, my larger breast has the nipple pointing outward. He said he will be removing the tissue from the bottom portion of the breast.
I will have a breathing tube for the surgery.
After the required mammogram the office had me do a few weeks ago, I learned I have a benign cyst on the larger breast. I had the doctor review the results and asked if he could remove the cyst during surgery. He said no, that he wasn't working anywhere near the area the cyst was in. Bummer.
I'm not too nervous for the surgery quite yet. I'm more worried about my job and having to have my coworkers cover my desk while I am out.
Also worried that doctor may not remove as much breast tissue as u want.
I did my blood test yesterday.
I have a bandaid on my left shoulder from burning myself with a heating pad. Doctor noted that. I really hope it heals up in a week and isn't a concern.
The countdown is here!

Woo hoo! Very exciting! You already have quite nice looking breasts, so once they're evened up and lifted a bit they should look fantastic!

Exciting! I have a sebaceous cyst at the base of my breast. I still have not had my pre-op but am hopeful it can be removed during surgery because of the location. I too am very nervous about work. I just keep reminding myself it’s okay to take care of me for a bit but it is still tough. 13 days for me! Best of luck to you! I’ll be following your progress!

Night before surgery

Surgery is tomorrow! I am getting quite nervous and felt a bit nauseas tonight due to nerves. I worry about being under anesthesia and coming out okay. I've got two kiddos to take care of and am putting myself through this elective surgery. I know it will improve my quality of life, im just freaking out a little about the risks. Good thing is, in about 12 hours I'll be on the other side with the weight off my shoulders!
I'm wearing some sweatpants, and no makeup, deodorant, lotion or jewelry when I go in. Nothing to eat or drink past midnight tonight. Not even water.
I sure hope they are able to get the IV. My veins are small and wiggly. That will probably be the most traumatizing part tomorrow. I'm drinking a bunch of Gatorade tonight in hopes to stay hydrated.
Next update it will be done!

Don't stress about the anesthesia. We all do but complications are very rare these days. It's amazing to me I was scared of it all these years. When I went for my surgery the nurse walked me down to the surgery room, I laid down on the table, then boom! All the sudden I'm in recovery and people are talking to me. I was thirsty and I drank a diet Coke they gave me too fast and got a little nauseous. They gave me crackers and some antinausea stuff. Then a percoset and my friend helped me get dressed and took me to the pharmacy then home. I was walking and talking just fine. The hardest part is just making yourself take it easy. Especially with kids. You have to do as little as possible and let yourself heal. But it will be worth it!
