Hi All... So a few years back I had VSG surgery. My lowest weight was 161, I currently weigh 169. I am scheduled to have a panniculectomy next month. I’m a Kaiser member. The first referral I had I was approved but wanted a second opinion because I wanted to add on lipo and a full tummy tuck not only a panniculectomy (removal of the pannus which is below the belly button). I went to the second consultation and that doctor in West LA denied both the tummy tuck and a panniculectomy all together saying I didn’t qualify which I knew was untrue. After all the back-and-forth with membership services and my insurance, I sent in pictures and got the board to approve the full panniculectomy altogether. I am excited and nervous all at the same time because after getting the approval in December, everything went super fast. I actually met with my surgeon for the first time on December 26 2017. He’s super cool and made me feel extremely comfortable about the procedure. They called me at the end of January to ask me if I wanted to schedule my surgery March 15, I agreed. My preop appointment is March 7. At this appointment I will learn more about the exact incision, the possible relocation of my bellybutton, how long I’ll stay at the hospital, and any last minute details. stay tuned!! I’ll keep you all updated

I DID IT!!

March 15th I went in for surgery. They took me to the back @2pm, I came out of surgery @6pm and was in my room by 8pm. Surgery lasted about 4hrs and they removed 8 1/2lbs of fat and skin altogether.... my surgeon, physicians assistant, and entire team were absolutely amazing! Out of surgery my pain level was 7/10... after the meds I was out for the rest of the night. I stayed 2 days until the pain was manageable and I could control it on my own.... overall this has been an interesting experience but I’m sooooo happy with my results... I’m still swollen a bit but it’s gettinf better with time
