WORTH IT
It has been only 4 months in and I have a presentable result! It will be 8 months until the full result shows, but every week more hairs are beginning to grow!
The consultation was standard, goals were discussed and assessments of the donor area were made. The staff were all friendly, and I was very comfortable. There was nothing left out, and I left relieved that my procedure had been booked. I live away from Calgary, and the clinic went above and beyond in scheduling my transplant on some odd days off that I had.
I arrived in the early morning, and we got on to the procedure itself. Dr.Bobby, Nafissa and Adriana all worked for 14 hours hours in a massive session where I had FUT and had my hairline restored nice and dense with FUE hairs. I basically relaxed and listened to music the whole time, had a lunch break and quite honestly the painkillers made the whole procedure feel like it was over with a bit faster. Yes, everything was tender for a day or two, but it was not as painful as it looks.
I really appreciate that I was given a direct phone number as well in case I had any questions or emergencies. It was made clear to me that they take pride in their work, and they genuinely wanted to give me the best results possible. Even after the procedure itself.
I was back to work after three days, and just wore a hat. I didn't think I would, but I even wound up telling a few closer co-workers after a while.
I did realize something that might be of value to the realself community, and it's that I am glad that I didn't go to some other country to have this done cheaper. This is all just my opinion, the whole aspect of having a trip and surgery at the same time will assure that the trip is ruined. Knowing that you just had thousands of grafts implanted into your scalp is extremely distracting for the first little while. I went on a trip to Asia after the surgery and was glad that I had it done in Canada, after I was used to the change.
Ill post a few more pictures in a few months when I'm further along.
Cheers!

Update

Coming along more noticeably each week. Thickness keeps improving at this point and I am seeing a lot of hairs moving from resting into the growth phase. I've started minoxidil, and anything to boost the length or thickness of the hairs will really go a long way at this point. The spots that looked thin when bright light would shine through are filling in

April 30 Update
t90xMay 1, 2017
Bit of an update, I used some hair dye to darken my hair a bit. I picked some that was roughly the same colour as my hair but slightly darker. I am impressed with the thickening effect. Styling has been getting easier, I comb in some styling putty to keep the hair straight and finish off with some spray.
I'm also starting to see some of single hairs begin to grow out their double and triple hairs. A lot of what appeared to be a single hair are basically splitting off into multiple hairs. This is probably how I'll see more density in the coming months.
I have more than half a year to wait and see the full effect, so here's a few pictures taken today. To be less than halfway through the waiting period, I think I am doing decently well.
