This process has been a very smooth and easy process for me. Like many of the other women on Realself, I was never really happy with the size my breast matured to on their own. After having pregnancy/nursing boobs for the last 3 years, I knew that I was going to have my breasts done once my youngest was done breastfeeding. This summer I joined the Realself Community following others on their journey and reading reviews for doctors. I knew that I did not want to use any local plastic surgeon but I also did not want a large amount of travel involved in this process. Once I started to research Dr. Paul Whidden, I felt that he was a good match for me. I booked my first consultation with him on November 10th 2017. I was very reassured after meeting with him and his staff that I was going to have the procedure done by him. They had one opening left on December 6th, so I took it. A few things that I already new going into the consultation 1. Don't get hung up on numbers (a few cc's smaller or larger will not be noticeable) 2. Don't go in thinking you want a certain number of cc's. Once the doctor measures you, they can provide you options for what fits your body and goals. For me it was either going to be 550cc or 580cc, so I decided to go with the bigger size (no regrets).
We arrived in Calgary the night before my surgery. We relaxed at the hotel and slept well the night before. I had to arrive at the clinic for 8:30am. I was given a nice warm robe to wear and provided some medication to take. Within the hour I had been marked up and was ready to enter the operating room. I said good bye to my husband and went in for my surgery. I feel it is important to share I am not great with needles. The only other IV's I have had were when I was getting an epidural. The staff all made me feel as comfortable as they could and I was asleep before I knew it. Upon waking up I was greeted by my recovery nurse, who helped to keep me moving along in the process. I did not feel rushed, but I feel that they recovery time was managed efficiently to ensure that the patients do the majority of recovery outside of the clinic. Once back at the hotel, my husband waited on me the rest of Wednesday and all day Thursday. He made sure I had taken my medication, changed my ice packs, helped me go to the washroom, really with everything that I needed. I did not expect to feel so exhausted and as useless as I did for those first couple of days. Also I was allowed to shower 24 hours after the surgery, and it would have been very difficult to do that without my husbands help.
Day 2 post op Friday we had my first follow up appointment with Dr. Whidden, and he was very happy with where everything was. I was very symmetrical before and he said i look very symmetrical after. If i plan to be in Calgary around the 6 week post, he said I should plan to come in otherwise, it would be okay if I wait until the 9 months to 1 year mark to come back. This was nice to hear that he doesn't expect me to travel for follow up appointments and that a phone call and pictures can be sufficient. The 6 hour drive home went well. I kept my pain meds at a high level, which caused me to go in and out of sleep for the entire drive.
Day 3 post op
My parents have agreed to keep my kids at their place until Monday (when they return to Daycare). My oldest is almost 3 years old and youngest is just over 1 year old. I am feeling better today, but not good enough to be caring for those two kiddos. I am still high and tight, and finding some time with out the bra feels great. I have reduced pain meds and also have lengthened the time between them, so that is showing positive progress. My shoulder and upper back muscles are sore today and I have been requesting a few massages.
I will continue to post in the days and weeks to come to document for myself where I started and where I get to. Thanks to everyone who posted their experience before me, as I found this forum to be a wealth of information.

So today is 8 days since my surgery. I am off the pain meds during the day with some Tylenol in the evenings. I am still sleeping propped up, but I look forward to laying down on the next couple of weeks. My husband has been great, I find it hard to ever imagine being bored with a 1 and 3 year old, but with them at daycare all day and my husband at work, I have finally gotten board. I will be going into work tomorrow for the first time. I work at a family business so everyone knows why I have been off. It has been a relief to have all of the family support.
For an update on the boobs; they are still high, but not square, they are very firm but not sore, and so far I have had no brushing, numbness or stinging pain. The tap came off both incision today which has been nice. I find that I am 50% with a bra and 50% without.

Three weeks, and feeling good
KtimeDecember 28, 2017
Today was three weeks since my surgery. I am feeling good day to day, I can now fully extend my arms above my head. I have been lifting an interacting with my kids again, which has been really nice. Overall the recovery has been close to 'textbook' from what I have read. My breast have started to drop more and are softening. I know that I will continue to see changes, but I have been very happy with the process and results so far.
Your implants look really nice. Looks like we may have the same stats. Im getting mine done in Lethbridge on Dec 21. I was looking at 450 - 485 implants but the doctor suggested 500 - 520 would look better. Its fingers crossed. What's your progress like till date?
