8 Weeks Post Op

8 weeks post op/5 weeks post hematoma. Things are going well. I've noticed the swelling has gone down a great deal and I'm super pumped about the sizing not being too huge! That was one of my concerns. I honestly feel like I have my pre-baby boobs back! Yay! Not too big, Not too small. I struggled with boobie-blues for a few weeks (after the hematoma) and questioned if I made the right decision. Now that I'm back running and working out, I'm super happy I went through with the BA. I completed a little 5k yesterday at the same speed I was running it last year.

2.5 weeks post hematoma

Freak hematoma 3 weeks post op

I was up all night with my four-year-old who was puking until 5 AM. After finally falling asleep, I woke up at 6 AM feeling pain in my breast. I went to the mirror and freaked out seeing that my one breasts was double the size of the other one. I woke my husband up to get his opinion. Every minute the swelling was getting worse and the pain was increasing. I could hardly breathe and could literally feel the blood pooling and climbing up to my shoulder. I phoned Dr. Whidden on my way to emerg. I wasn't sure how much of an emergency this was (I live 1.5 hours away from his office) but all I knew is the pain was almost unbearable and I couldn't hardly think. Luckily, Dr. Whidden called back superquick and was able to book me in for emergency surgery in his clinic that morning. Because I was in so much pain, I forgot that I had lots of leftover oxycodone and could use that for pain management until I got to the OR. I popped two pills which at least took the edge off!

I'm incredibly grateful for the care Dr. Whidden and Dr. Patel showed me that day. They made me a priority by getting me in within 3 hours of calling. Dr. Whidden took great care of everything. He found where the bleed was and said it was a good thing I came in because it was still bleeding. He emptied all the blood, patched up the hematoma, took out the implant to get a through look and put me back together. I am reminded as to why I chose him- an experienced Plastic Surgeon who is exceptional and stands behind what he does.

Now after some reflexion on the ordeal, I think what happened is two potential things: a) I tried to hold in my sneeze while turning into my pillow so I wouldn't wake my poor babe who was sick. I felt a slight pop but nothing alarming b) Because it was a crazy night with my little one and I was concerned for her, I slept on my side facing her and may have put too much pressure on the implant by accident.

Anyway, I am sharing all of this because I hope everyone considering PS will do their due diligence- make sure you choose only the best! I hear so many women contemplating travelling abroad for breast augmentation. Please don't do that to yourself. We live 1.5 hours from my PS's office and we have driven there and back 6 times in under a month.

**As you can see from my photos, the experience is quite upsetting. I'm not an overly emotional person, but I balled after getting out of the shower and seeing the difference between the two breasts. Thankfully they are already evening out and most importantly, that insane pain is gone! Now I'm wondering about how careful to be.... Some anxiety over how physical I can be has crept in. I go see Dr. Whidden in a few days for my follow-up.

The front staff were welcoming and friendly. I felt at ease with the clinic considering it was clean and professional looking. Trista is one of the main reasons why I ended up going with McLeod Trail plastic surgery. She was extremely accommodating and helped answer all my questions. She went above and beyond- I really can't say enough about how helpful she was! When I went for my consult, Dr. Whidden took the time to answer all the questions I had. His sizing recommendation, based on what I was hoping to achieve was spot on. On the day of the surgery I felt very relaxed in their office. The nurse Victoria was exceptional at her job and helped me immensely after the surgery. Dr. Patel, the Anesthetist was great at his job and he helped everything go smooth; he explained everything really well to me. The nurses in the OR were wonderful as they helped distract me from getting anxious. Dr. Whidden was focused and I appreciated his demeanour on the day of surgery. He did an incredible job and so far I would recommend him to anyone considering BA. My husband and I are both pleased. On day 2 post op, I was awoken from pain in my groin. I was concerned that it could be a blood clot. I called the pager Number and he got back to me right away. I appreciated the fact that he called me so quickly and gave me advise.
