Please No BOWL BUTT

Please No BOWL BUTT

Hello to anyone who has had an insecurity for years and is finally considering surgery or an enhancement to change it, please read this.

After having my children and losing weight, I also lost a lot of volume in my bum. For years it was something that genuinely affected my confidence. Of course, I’m grateful to be healthy and alive, and I know there are bigger things in life but that doesn’t mean we aren’t allowed to have insecurities.
Eventually, I was in a position to finally do something about it.
I chose a surgeon who came highly recommended and who I was told was one of the best.
Before surgery, we had extensive conversations, exchanged photos and discussed what I wanted.
I was realistic from the beginning. I knew my body type wasn’t suddenly going to give me an extremely firm, toned, gym-style bum.
But one thing I said repeatedly was: I do not want a “bowl” shape.
I remember saying, “If it looks like a bowl, I’ll be so upset.”
And unfortunately, that is exactly how I feel it looks now.
The doctor himself was very sweet and kind in person, and I have nothing negative to say about his manner. But when you are undergoing major surgery, kindness alone isn’t what matters most. You’re trusting someone with your body, your safety and an outcome you may have to live with permanently.
I packed my bags and travelled to Turkey. I was assessed, and before I knew it, I was going into surgery.
Thankfully, I woke up well and my initial recovery went smoothly and I will always acknowledge that because your health and safety are the most important things.
I received 360cc implants, along with some fat placed around them. My understanding was that this would help soften or disguise the implant edges. The implants were not placed under the muscle, which surprised me because with my small frame, I believed we had discussed an approach that would avoid an obvious implant look.
At first my bum was extremely swollen, so I knew I had to wait for everything to settle.
But as the swelling started going down, I immediately began noticing the exact “bowl” shape I had been so afraid of.
I started looking into filler to try to soften the appearance. I was quoted around $4,500 per session and told I could potentially need three or four rounds.
At around the three-month mark, I paid for one round because emotionally I was struggling to even look at the result.
Now that things have settled further, I feel devastated by the shape.
And that is the part that is hardest for me.
Had I been told beforehand that this was a realistic possibility for my body and the surgical technique being used, I personally would not have gone ahead. I would have kept my “pancake bum.”
Instead, I spent close to a month away from my children, around $50,000 between surgery, agent fees, accommodation, transport and flights, plus four weeks away from work.
And now I’m looking at spending even more money trying to correct something I specifically said I didn’t want.
This is not me telling anyone what they should or shouldn’t do with their body.
This is me saying: ask more questions than you think you need to ask.
Ask exactly where the implant will sit.
Ask what your realistic shape will look like once swelling disappears.
Ask to see healed results on bodies similar to yours.
Ask what happens if you don’t like the outcome.
Ask about revision options.
And make sure every concern you have is discussed clearly before you get on that operating table.
For me personally, if I could go back knowing what I know now, I would not do it.
Your natural body may feel imperfect to you today but please understand that correcting an outcome you hate can be far more emotionally, physically and financially exhausting than living with the insecurity you started with.
I wish someone had told me that before I went.
