Terrible Rhinoplasty Result - Burnsville, MN

ORIGINAL POST

Following my much anticipated rhinoplasty, I am left with a crooked nose, bulbous tip, and a visible "notch" on my nostril from a suture. Dr. Joe simply said "Noses are hard." and "I'm sorry" during my appt. to discuss my disappointment. Definitely regret choosing him. I wish I didn't buy into his staff's excessive recital of his accomplishments; they certainly did nothing to help my case.

I'm sorry you're unhappy with your results. Noses are most definitely hard. We'd love to see your before and after photos so we can visualize what you're describing.

I understand how you feel i just had my 3rd rhino procedure so ive been through all that disappointment. All you can do is wait for all the swelling to go down and see how it looks then if your still unhappy maybe you can consider a revision with a very experienced surgeon but do your research. Wish you well.

Crooked Rhinoplasty

I would absolutely not recommend this surgeon despite these high grades. I question the authenticity of the amount of high remarks, especially considering I've spoken with several other women who had less than ideal results. Make sure you consult with other docs. I went back a month or two after my post-op because my nose was crooked below where it was broken for the surgery, which was never an issue before surgery. Dr. Joe simply said, "Yeah, I see that...sorry." And that it could be "fixed" free of charge but that I would still have to pay all hospital/anesthesia fees. One would think a professional of such high regard would seek to preserve his reputation and work, but he didn't seem to care. Years later, it's still crooked and there is a notch on each nostril where the stitches were placed.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I live in Minneapolis and I'm having such a hard time finding a doctor I can trust here, most of the glowing reviews seem so phony to me. I'm so glad that people like you post honest experiences. Best of luck to you whether you decide to get a revision or not! :)

I live in mpls as well and it's very hard to find a good nose Doctor. I've had one surgery and my tip hangs low on one side and it droups where it was cut.

I feel like I have to travel to Cali to find a good doctor for revision surgery!

Ugh! Sorry you've had a bad surgery as well :( Did you have your primary here in MPLS? I'm shocked by how few great surgeons we have here. I'm planning on seeing Dr. Ivan Wayne in Oklahoma City. He has tons of great reviews WITH PHOTOS! I've learned to essentially discredit the rave reviews that don't have photo "evidence". I truly wish you the best of luck with your revision!

I totally know what you mean-- the reviews are so hard to judge. I had a breast aug from Dr. Thao in Woodbury and would ABSOLUTELY go to him if I ever decide to do rhinoplasty revision. He is awesome as is his staff!

Thank you! I did have my primary surgery here. I can breath better so that's the most important. Best wishes to you in OK and post pics if you can!

Thanks for the info. I live in Woodbury so I'll check him out. ;-)

I had rhinoplasty with Dr Edward Szachowicz in Edina, plus a chin implant and chin lipo. It turned out really well and helped my profile so much!! He's a facial only PS. I really trust him. Recommend him for rhino.

Astroturfing is the term used for using a marketing company or doing it yourself to pad reviews online to boost interest in your business. It's very real and very relevant with physicians/surgeons. I would NOT use online reviews for the basis of selecting a doctor or surgeon including the ones with photos! I would start by speaking with a doctor I have a long history with like my primary care physician and ask for referrals or recommendations. That's probably the best place to start. From there I would not trust what a doctor states about his previous work and success, especially a surgeon! I would check with every board for complaints and I would also check the doctors licensing background and actual details of education and training. That is solid launching off point.
I do want to say I commend your doctor for acknowledging the issue with the outcome directly and offering to waive his fees for revision, because that seems to rarely occur. I don't say this to downplay your anger or frustration either, because that is unfair. I'm just shocked in a good way about the direct acknowledgement, because that is not my experience nor many other posters on here.
