2.5 months ago I decided to try Botox, and as I was a Botox virgin I booked myself an appointment at an up market clinic, and had injections between my brows (good!) and in my marionette lines, disastrous! It left me with a crooked mouth and an inability to smile or speak properly. A week later I went back for corrective Botox, which in all honestly didn't really work but I had a little filler and my marionette lines looked a tad better, although everything else remained the same. Looking back, the doctor who performed the procedure was a charlatan because my lines were so bad that no amount of Botox could have helped......9 doctors work from that clinic and I obviously got the bad one. However, while I was there one of the assistants suggested I might benefit from a neck and lower face lift and went on to tell me about the amazing Dr Poomee who works from the Bumrungrad Hospital in Thailand, and how she had had two procedures with him; a boob lift and a tummy tuck! She couldn't speak highly enough of him so I went home, emailed him explaining what I was looking for and within a couple of hours he replied! He asked me for pictures which I duly sent. In his opinion he believed I would benefit from a neck and lower face lift plus upper and lower bleph. It didn't take me long to decide to go ahead with it as I hated looking at my droopy neck and hideous jowls - I looked like Deputy Dowg!
So, to cut a long story short, my husband and I flew to Bangkok last Wednesday, I met the fab Dr Poomee on the Thursday (decided against the upper bleph, purely out of fear, but kicking myself now!), had an ECG, blood tests and a chest X-Ray, paid my money and had the operation at 7am, Friday 8th July. Words cannot describe how much I love my neck and the exhilaration at discovering that I do actually have a chin and jaw which if I'm being honest I hadn't actually seen since 1998!
I cannot recommend Dr Poomee highly enough, I've had little to no bruising and haven't taken pain killers for 4 days. Did I mention that I love Dr Poomee?
I'm having my stitches out tomorrow and fly home the next day.
In all seriousness, I had many sleepless nights trying to justify spending so much money on myself, especially for a procedure that wasn't necessary but about how I saw myself but, you know what, I'm so glad I did! ????

Dr Poomee was highly recommended to me and after googling him, I decided that he was the one for me as he always replied to my questions promptly and personally. After the surgery everything looked great apart from two pouches underneath my neck. Dr Poomee assured me that they would settle and the skin would reattach itself to my neck, which of course wasn't the case. My face looks exactly like it did before the surgery; loose skin and jowls. He agreed to a revision but stated he 'could only do his best and there wasn't any guarantees that he could make it better', which obviously doesn't instill confidence in me. I would still have to pay for 2 nights in hospital, anesthetist fees, plus flights to Thailand, as well as the trauma of another general anesthetic. I requested a refund which was refused, and he is now ignoring my emails. I would not recommend this surgeon.

It's so much better, really great. I know we don't need these ops but if they make you so happy (as they do me) then go for it. Yesterday this man came up to me in street saying they needed 18-35 men to look at shoe displays - I said i was 49 and he said that's the best excuse anyone has used tell me to f off! Well done and enjoy your new looks! cheers

Thanks Jezz, you must have been delighted with his comment, lol. You're right, we don't need these procedures but they do make us feel better though. Good luck with your back!

Hey Chrish! I'm so glad you posted on my page! I haven't spent much time on here lately so I've lost track of people like you who were so supportive of me! Your neck does look absolutely amazing! Isn't it just wonderful how expert doctors can make us feel so much better about ourselves. You were very brave to go so far away! Your husband must be a jewel! I still have numbness in my jaw and directly under my chin, along both sides of my ears and my eyelids. Thankfully, my ears were never numb! Nothing is perfect about my face, but that's what I was hoping for - natural with a smoother neck and jawline, diminished wrinkles, and wider open eyes. Everything is still healing and transforming and I'm afraid even getting a little lax, but I really am happy with the results and I'm sure you will be, too! The process can seem long and troublesome at times, but we knew that - thanks to all the information women ahead of us so willingly shared. Keep me posted and I will watch for updates from you! Oh, and stay well hydrated and sleep upright as long as you can!

Thanks Jan, I'm very happy with the results but like you, scared it's all going to tumble down again lol. Today I can see a noticeable change, for the better I might add as although I'm still swollen my neck looks a little more defined as does my jaw. The numbness takes some getting used to but like yours, the feeling will gradually return I hope! Strangely, my ears haven't been affected either, just the surrounding areas. You're right about the support system on this site as I probably wouldn't have gone through with it without the stories and reviews, not to mention photos showing what 'could be' which definitely encouraged me to continue. My doctor also went for the natural look which I'm more than happy with as my aim was to look better, not to look younger but, if I do then that's a double whammy! :-) Chris

Well, I can tell you this- you definitely look years younger from the mouth down! I wanted to look younger! I did not want to look older than I am or older than I feel! We're very fortunate to have been able to have this "treatment," aren't we!
July 19, 2016
Thank you. We certainly are! I can't actually believe it's all done and dusted now and 12 days post because the build up seemed pretty loooong! ;)

Congrats on giving yourself this gift! I am so glad you went for it--it can feel selfish to spend the money, but as women, we tend to give and give, and it's nice to give ourselves a lasting gift! I am so happy for you

Thanks Karen! You're right, we do tend to stand at the back of the queue lol. I don't feel any guilt now strangely enough, and as long as the outcome is a good one I won't. I'm 4.5 weeks post now but worried about two little pouches of swelling under my chin which looks a little like the waddle I had before the surgery though not nearly as big. My PS thinks it's fluid and recommended I continue to wear my compression garment for another 2 weeks, which I will. Everywhere else is great so I should be patient I suppose! I know you had an issue with prolonged swelling too. You look amazing by the way!

I am so glad you are happy with the outcome. I know we have to be patient to see the true results, which is hard sometimes. Your PS would probably really know if it is just fluid, so I hope that resolves soon.

Hi Chrish, don't know how I missed your review till now but just had to chime in with my congratulations on such a stunning result. Never feel guilty. If, like me you have rediscovered the feeling of actually owning a chin and separate neck again, then rest assured you are probably spreading that good feeling to those all around you too! A Win- win situation! You look lovely!
August 17, 2016
Thank you! Lol, yes it is lovely but I probably spend 12 hours a day checking up on it, making sure it's ok! I do however, have an issue under my chin in that there's two small pouches of skin I'm not happy with and was hoping they'd have disappeared by now (coming up for 6 weeks). And as much as I'm thrilled with the rest of my face - my eye bags are a thing of the past, I just continuously focus on the area under my chin, stupid eh! Just checked out your review and you look fabulous! You must be delighted, I also agree that it's money well spent!

I, too keep having to run my fingers over my chin to check I still have one and it hasn't all collapsed! At first I didn't want to take off my compression garment at all, (then I had to cos it was wearing away bits under my ears!) Every sneeze, I cringe. And as for that mammoth vomiting day, well I thought there was no hope. I still worry about relaxation as I'm only 3 weeks out and can see a difference already from when it was first done. But I know it's still an improvement on what I had to live with for so long. It felt like a deformity, which is probably a very un-PC word, (sorry), but just how I felt about myself. X
August 17, 2016
Know how you feel....my chin had practically melted into my neck and was the bane of my life. I'm still wearing my cg because of the swelling but it's also threadbare so not sure how much good it's doing. Mine has relaxed a little but to be expected I suppose given my age but I feel tons better and haven't regretted having it done for a single second!

So you had that 'melting candle' feeling too? - shame, it seems to be spreading to my waistline...

Lower face and neck lift

chrish75
It is with much regret I am writing such a disappointing update. 8 months after my surgery, my face and neck look no different to how it was before I had the lift. Dr Poomee agreed to a revision but said he can't guarantee he can improve it. I don't want to go through more expense, plus another general anesthetic if that's the best he can offer. I have absolutely zero confidence in this man which is so disappointing after my rave review of him initially.

What caused the regression? The man owes you a refund! I am so so sorry! I would be just devastated to have spent so much time, emotional energy and MONEY and end up where I began. Lots of (((BIG HUGS))) from me to you.
March 3, 2017
Thanks Janet. Unfortunately he's now ignoring my emails which is very frustrating! I have no idea why the regression has been so severe, I can only imagine he didn't do the procedure properly in the first place. Hope you're well! x

Looks like he did a skin only lift.
March 4, 2017
Could be, Mary457, it's so very disappointing!
March 4, 2017
I completely understand. It costs so much money and we go through so much discomfort and pain, but do it because the doctor promises a beautiful outcome. I'm so sorry you have been violated this way. try to get a refund and see a different doctor, this one sounds as though he will only botch things further if he does a revision. Its like a battered wife going back to the husband who keeps battering her.
March 4, 2017
Unfortunately, Mary457, when the surgeon tells you he will 'do his best, but can't guarantee a better outcome', it wouldn't make any sense to go back for more of the same!

This is unbelievable. Your neck looked so good postop. I can't understand how it changed so much. Did he give any explanation?
