So ironic, isn't it? But thank goodness it wasn't serious and you're doing well :)))

i know the nurse here at my local doctor surgery had no idea that the stitches will long stitches my surgeon in budapest took most of the stitches out the last remaining two we're the ones in the middle by the pubic bone area which have to stay in for 3 weeks so i have to get my gp or a nurse at my local surgery to take them out and she had no idea what she was doing her hands were shaking and she told me after pulling and tugging on my stitches that i have to come back again to get these taken out properly by my gp! Eakkkkkkk that's the NHS for you.

I am 1 week post opp , this is my last night here in lovely Budapest, my surgeon says I'm healing we'll bruising and swelling but this is extremely normal, i haven't looked at my sky as i keep my bandages on i don't want with my bandages i don't touch my bandages i leave them on because hands carry bacteria and if you continue to keep taking your bandages off to look at your scar and touch the insion , that's how bacteria gets into the scar and that's how infection happens so i leave it alone, i haven't had a shower yet or a bath i won't have a shower until i'm 2 weeks post op, so i just washed with a sponge everware and my friend washes my hair for me, this does not bother me as apparently you must not get your incision wet with any water for 2 weeks as this can also cause infection, so I leave it alone , i can't wait to go home and see my children as i've missed them very much and my partner and my dog, budapest was lovely it's a beautiful city to come and visit and also have surgery you are well looked after but i must say you must bring somebody with you if you are planning on having surgery out here as they tell you to do that anyway, i will update my status in another week or so as i'm waiting for the swelling to go down but i will keep you all posted.

You have been very brave doing this on your own and I'm so happy that everything has gone very well. If you need to change your bandages, wash your hands with anti bacterial soap, wear gloves or not and use an antibacterial wipe to get pad off if stuck on the incision. I bet your doc will give you even better instructions. Have a smooth and safe trip hope, enjoy your family, happy holidays and a very happy healing to you :)))

Many thanks for your comment , yes I have some special clear surgical gloves I will use when I'm changing my dressings and applying scar cream , as I see so many people touching there insition with their hands after 1 week ,,,' I'm like "lady's leave it alone lol" ,I have some slicone scar sheets at home I'm going to start using when I get home ,I will be 10 days post opp then so it should be ok to use them after I clean my insition with pharmaceutical alcohol first, then cream put on then Scar sheets, then the binder ! Phuuuw what a mammoth task it is to keep your scar looked after, x =)
