Otoplasty for Mildly Protruding Ears- Progress Report - Budapest, Hungary

ORIGINAL POST

I am on a facial transformation journey-...

I am on a facial transformation journey- Otoplasty, Buccal fat removal, neck lipo, chin augmentation, and rhinoplasty. I finished the first 3 (easier ones) yesterday in a 2-hour procedure.

I have attached before and after (1 day post op pictures). I panicked as I saw myself in the mirror, esp the ears looking overcorrected ( but I hear this is normal initially and will expand). The ears look a bit deformed (the upper half smaller than the lower for some reason) and possibly pinned in too much. From the frontal image, the ears are barely visible. Note that the stitches are still in.The buccal and neck areas are swollen at this stage, but I’m less concerned. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I shall aim to provide regular updates with pictures going forward

Was the prosedure painful, did you feel anything? Did they give you a local anesthesia? How long was the surgery?
January 15, 2015
They gave local anaesthesia, but also a strong sedative. I had neck lipo and buccal removal done too, so it was 2 hours I seem to remember someone saying later. It felt a lot less as I was in a trance!! Its not that painful afterwards - they give you painkillers etc. You just have to be careful for a while. The ear bandages are on for 3 days and the stitches for a week. You have to be careful for a month.

your ears look the same. Their is barely any difference because the top of the ears are still sticking out to much. Thats problem with otoplasty. The top of the are still sticks out and the ear looks unnatural. I thnk i might try the stitch method. I just don't like the results from otoplasty...

2 days post

3rd day after surgery - comments anyone?

duton
Neck lipo - still some swelliing, I'm wearing a compression band most of the time and using ice packs 2-3 times a day.
Buccal removal - same as above
Otoplasty - ears are still swollen. Stitches on the outside will be removed tomorrow and the ones behind the ears in a couple of weeks. For now, my ears look too small and are taped right into the sides of my head. It looks a bit unnatural given that I have a wide face. The Doctor did say that it would spring back a couple of mm after stitches are removed. 2 mm sounds very insignificant. I understand from reading some other posts on this site that if a lot of cartilage has been removed, reversal is difficult, but possible in the first month - a bit nervous - anyone willing to comment?

Any update since November? What precisely did you have done? It's clear the ear was 'pinned' closer to your head, but did you have the ear size reduced as well? I'd be very interested to see the final result.

Apologies for the delay. I have been wanting to post for a while.

@Jwc2london - I had ear pinning done, that's it. For some reason, it looks smaller though! I have attached updated pics. Although from a medical perspective, I think the doc's done a good job, I'm not sure if this much pinning was required given the size of my face. Per the last pic, my ears are almost not visible from a frontal view. I don't know any better though, so any opinions will be appreciated! I have a number of additional procedures planned as indicated above, however, am unable to proceed due to being unsure on this one.

Thanks for the pictures I do see an improvement. The back of the ear looks a bit strange though - of course there will be a red scar still, but there seems to be a protruding ridge. Is that simple a trick of the light?

There is a ridge, nay a trick of the light. I don't think that will go down completely, although its less than it was. I don't care too much about the back though, people have barely noticed
