How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Macrolane

Forgot to add the most important tip of all: don't get macrolane! Should be banned for use globally.
Apparently I needed a full capsulectomy as the gel had impregnated the capsule and was everywhere. Breasts littered with the horrible lumps.
Wonderful Mr Richards says he got most of it out. Fingers crossed he got all of it out!

Post-op. Part deux

So tip 1: don't get ill (even slightly) before surgery. Eat healthy and disinfect everything.

Tip 2: bring large Bridget-jones-style cotton undies to your op.
I took my usual cotton g-string. But when I awoke, the g-string had been taken off me and was on a bag. So I must assume it was deemed unhygienic for surgery.

Top tip 3:
If you are going to the Shelburne, please note that there is another NHS hospital next door. Do not, like I did, go there and wait around 1 hour nearly missing your check-in at the correct hospital.

Top tip 4:
When the nurses tell you to eat: eat. I was not hungry at all and only agreed to eat 6 hours post-op after repeated urging. And after I ate I felt much more livened up.

Top tip 5:
Don't arrange to chat on the phone too much with mates. One conversation later and I'm exhausted and hoarse.

Top tip 6:
Try to push for your pre-op call well before the surgery date. This is in case you might have to go in for a pre-assessment. My call was scheduled for yesterday. I was asked during the call if I could get to the assessment centre in a few hours. One day prior to surgery. While I was at work. 1.5 hours away from the hospital. Cue stress.

Top tip 7:
High Wycombe, where the Shelburhe is, is not too far from London. In fact, only took 45minutes in a cab this morning. Albeit I left home at the break of dawn at 5.30am!

Top tip 8:
Don't send a list of tips to real self a few hours post-op. I'm probably going to read this tomorrow when off meds and gasp in horror at the ghibberish I wrote!

Just done with my surgery and Mr Richards and his wonderful team, nurses & great anesthetist, have been great thus far. All came to see me pre & post op and spent time with me explaining the procedure and letting me ask questions and voice concerns. All seem very attentive and concerned about my well-being, health and comfort.
