Very Positive Experience
WORTH IT$600
I got my buccal fat removal done with Dr. Lazos on 7/22, it's 9/4 today.
It was relatively easy to get scheduled and pay my deposit. Drove to the "Outlets at the Border," parked in front of Taco Bell and walked across.
Once I crossed I got some tacos at the restaurant next to the Hong Kong Gentleman's Club (it's to your right, across the crosswalk as soon as you're in TJ) and then used their wifi to call a very inexpensive Uber
Dr. Lazo's facility is inside of a small two story medical building. It's very clean. Everyone is very kind and they speak perfect english.
While I was waiting for the numbing agent to kick in I overheard Dr. Lazo take a call (in spanish) with someone who seemed to be having some difficulty with their recovery process for a different procedure. He was very kind and patient with them and he spoke to their nurse as well. I was impressed by how much he cared whereas in my experience in the states you're lucky to even get a prompt response from an assistant.
I had my heart set on also getting under chin liposuction but Dr. Lazos let me know I wouldn't be a good candidate and that I should try cool sculpting instead. I appreciate him being honest and not just taking my money for an unnecessary procedure.
My procedure went quickly. My left side had a little bit more trouble for him to pull out. It was also slower to recover than the right side, I had a big lump for about 2 and a half weeks, and even a little after a month post-op I can feel a little bit of built up scar tissue on the inside of my cheek, but I am being patient and waiting until 3 months. I also sleep on my left side and my nurse injector in the states has told me that it sags a little more than the right side, and that's probably why.
After the procedure I walked to the little farmacia across the way and got my prescriptions. He gives you one for an antibiotic and one for an NSAID. It's not strong but it does help with the swelling and residual pain the first few days. Then went back to Dr. Lazo's office, used their wifi to call an uber back to the border and crossed. Dr. Lazos will give you paperwork to declare your prescriptions at customs. There's no fee for this.
For the first few days I used peroxyl to rinse after I ate anything. Stuck to yogurt, mashed potatoes and apple sauce. I used ice packs a lot and took arnica and bromelain religiously.
After the first week I was so ready for the wound to be closed so I started swishing with warm salt water and it really helped.
I started to see some definition immediately. It looked even better after the first month and every day my contour improves. I will upload before and after photos after the 3 month recovery period is done. Overall it has been a great experience and I am glad I made the decision to finally do this.
