Incorrect assessment and treatment

Surgeon was not honest, transparent or informative about the expected outcomes and potential risks of the procedure. Patient’s age and family history were not taken into consideration. As a result, the buccal fat that would have probably decreased in volume in a few years was removed altogether at age 20. Unwanted results such as overly sculpted / resected cheeks and asymmetries were observed post-operation. Patient’s requests about having a reduction in buccal fat instead of total removal was declined by the surgeon due to his incompetence and lack of knowledge. Patient was misinformed regarding the achievability of the desired outcome (having flatter cheeks instead of hallow ones). The result was a deflated, gaunt-looking face. The patient is currently seeking options to restore the lost buccal volume.
