Buccal Fat Removal & Chin Lipo
WORTH IT$990
Hi everyone!
Had my BFR/CL done this morning with Dr. Omar Lazos in TJ. Here is my experience today:
Transportation: Had issues with Uber. Could not find anyone willing to take us into TJ. So we drove to the border, parked at the mall (outlets, very safe to leave your car), and walked over. Once we walked over, we hailed a taxi & got to the doctors office in 10 minutes & $8.00 USD. If you don’t have cell service in TJ, before you cross over, take a screenshot of Dr. Lazos address so you can show to the taxi driver.
You pay & sign before going in.
Buccal Removal: You go in, do a mouth rinse (I think it had a mild numbing agent), then Dr. Lazos shoots a local anesthetic deep into each side of my cheeks. Your cheeks immediately swell a bit. You sit for a few minutes while you wait for it to get numb. Then he swiftly makes a small incision and starts pulling the fat out. You’ll definitely feel tugging. He’s talking to you the whole time, letting you know what he’s doing. After he removes the fat, he cauterizes the incisions. You’ll smell a bit of a burning meaty smell (its not bad). This took about 5-10 minutes.
Chin Lipo: Okay, this one was a bit uncomfortable during the numbing part. Once its all numb though, you don’t feel anything except the pushing & pulling of the cannula. He goes very fast & this took about 10-15 minutes.
From start to finish (numbing, waiting for it to kick in, two procedures), I was there for exactly one hour.
His assistant cleans up your face & puts the head wrap on you.
He sends the person that goes with you, to the Farmacia right across the street to buy: Antibiotics, Pain Meds, & Arnica. Total for all 3 was $30.00 USD. He gives you a detailed instruction sheet for all the meds.
We hailed a cab & back to the border, $8.00 USD again.
I walked across the border just fine because I have Sentri/Global Entry, so it was SUPER fast. If you don’t have that, expect to stand in line for 2-3 hours to walk back. There were some cabs at the border (TJ side only) offering to take people across the border, back to SD.
My anesthetic lasted a long time (about 4-5 hours?) so I wasn’t in pain until 5:30 pm, but I was already back home already. Popped the pain meds & felt better. No nausea or sleepiness.
I do suggest if you don’t have Sentri & are stuck for 2-3 hours in the taxi or line, pack some protein shakes in a cooler bag to drink on way home. Will fill your stomach up, so you can take pain pills & not feel sick.
My cheeks don’t even hurt! What hurts is my neck and chin from the chin lipo. Definitely needed the pain meds. Will take pics every day! Thanks for reading :)

Hello! I also got the same procedure yesterday with Dr. Lazos too :) how are the cauterized wounds looking inside your cheeks? One is red around the area but the other side is fine so not sure if that’s normal. Thank you!

Hi hon! I just peeked inside & they both have the white halo around each of them with a red dot inside! Been rinsing with Scope after every liquid meal, about to have my first solid meal right now (scared Lol). Keep me updated! ;)

The redness went away for mine so I’m glad. I ate solids today too so far so good! Hopefully we have a speedy recovery. :)

Good to hear it went away! Yes, I wish us BOTH that too! Lol ;) How’s your chin/neck doing?

When you got your buccal fat removal, did you have the option to remove a certain amount or did they just remove everything?

Does he speak English? My Spanish is terrible. Lol.

Hey! Did you feel like you should’ve converted your money? Or was US dollars fine? Thank you!

Hi there! He takes US dollars :) I’m not sure if he’ll take the pesos conversion, but it’s worth asking him if it can save you any money? No problem ;)

Day 2
Morning folks,
Slept like the dead last night (with help from pain med!). Woke up actually feeling better than yesterday (less swollen)! There was more bruising though, around my neck. Took a shower & I’m at a restaurant about to eat my first solid meal! My cheeks are feeling good & aren’t that swollen. My neck feels pretty stiff though, to be expected as there was more trauma to it. Wearing my jacket zipped all the way up to hide the neck bruising. Pictures from this morning, after my shower & after I spread the arnica gel all over my neck :)

Day 3
Hi all!
So, interestingly my neck swelling has all gone away but my cheeks/chin are more swollen than day 1 & 2! Lol There is definitely bruising on my neck. I only took pain meds on Day 1. Almost had to pop one this morning though, after trying to chew through breakfast, but the pain subsided. It’s definitely a bit hard to open your mouth to brush your teeth or eat, you kind of have to shove the food in slowly Lol
Last 2 nights of sleeping have been good, I have wedge pillows already, so that helped keep me upright all night.
I’m starting to get more feeling in my face, the numbness is subsiding. Overall feeling better & better each day that passes :)
Dr. Lazos said I had a lot of Buccal fat & fat under my chin, so I’m pretty happy getting it out Lol Looking forward to fully healing!
Arnica pill 3 times a day (bought xtra strength off Amazon, I will post pic of brand)
Antibiotic pill 3 times a day
Arnica gel twice a day
