I am a 33 year old mom of a 13 year old boy. My one and only pregnancy took a huge toll on my belly and I have been so self conscious ever since. I could stand to loose 10 lbs and tone up a bit but I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs and generally in good shape. This may sound crazy but my husband whom I've been with for 7 years has NEVER seen my stomach! If anyone is wondering, yes, shirt on or lights out, lol! I know, so sad. It has been traumatizing as I have been teased by an ex boyfriend, because he was so mad I broke up with him but ever since, I have refused to let anyone see. I have taken care of my terminally ill family for the past 2 years and it is now my turn to take care of myself.

So, I have met with 2 doctors and chose the one who made me feel confident in the results he can give me. I live in New Jersey, but I am traveling to PA to Dr. Bottger. His work looks amazing and he and his staff took so much time to answer ALL of my questions... so far. I have one thing standing in my way and that is an internal hernia which is not able to be fixed during tt due to the location. My appointment with the general surgeon is on the 28th of January to get the ok to do the tt first. I was told it shouldn't interfere with my surgery but to be safe, I will keep waiting to see the surgeon. I made the appointment a month ago and have been calling 3 days per week to see if there was any cancellations with no success, so it's the waiting game. My PS's secretary was nice enough to hold a day for me without a deposit. I will notify her immediately after my appointment. So, if all goes as planned, I will be having my surgery on February 5th!! I hope, I hope! By the way, thank you all for sharing your stories and and photos, it has really helped to prepare me for whats ahead.

Good luck to you. I've read other reviews that were able to have 2 surgeries at the same time. The PS would open them up, the other surgeon would takeover and do whatever needed to be done (hysterectomy , etc.) then the PS would finish up and close them up. Not sure if this is an option for you. Best wishes!

Thank you. I'm going out of state for my TT so I think it would be easier to follow up with a regular surgeon locally and the hernia is internal and not definitive. I really wish I could do that, but I'm hoping the general surgeon will say it's endoscopic and can wait. Thank you for your thoughts though, I wish it was an option for me.

I am so excited for you! I was the exact same way. If my hubby wanted a piece, shirt stayed on. So sad. I had surgery on March 2nd and already love my new tummy! It's given me a whole new positive attitude about myself. It's a life changer! I wish you the best tomorrow and look forward to seeing your after pics! :)

May have to postpone the tt

Well, as much as I would like to believe this hernia or whatever it is, isn't going to get in the way of my TT, it's bothering me. It feels like a knot behind my ribs that keeps moving around and the pain is mild just always noticeable. So annoying. I can't wait to hear what the GS says because my CT is from July. He'll probably send me for new tests and I just don't see me keeping my Feb 5th date. I know its not the end of the world, and gives me more time to prepare. But I just have to wait, and wait, and wait. Tired of waiting to find out what EXACTLY this is and how we're going to deal with it.

As much as you don't want to wait, it may be better to get the hernia repaired before you have your tt. Once you get your tt, you don't want them cutting up your new tummy. Then you can heal without the impending doom of having to have the hernia fixed next. You'll be all done and you won't have to worry about your hernia messing with your tt. Do what's best for you hun. Best wishes on your journey!!!!

I know I need to be patient. I've been waiting for 2 years to start my life and know that this the TT requires healing time so I would like to get it done asap. But you're totally right about the scar and health comes first. I'll know what needs to be done soon enough. Thank you for your comment.

I live just outside the Philadelphia area. Dr Bottger is one on my list to interview. I'm interested to follow your experience. I'm not doing mine until Jan 2016. We have to save some more money. But I wish you the best of luck!!

Thank you! I think he's great and I've been researching for years! Really takes the time with you and his work looks amazing. Unfortunately I will have to reschedule mine due to the hernia. But I WILL definitely be having mine done by Dr. Bottger around the first week of March. I will be scheduling my surgery date by next Monday and I will do my best to give updates on my experience.
