I am scheduled for a full tummy tuck and hysterectomy, hysterectomy scheduled with my Gyn ... Dr Westawski has a very gentle way about him he was also great reviewing my different options and outcome with me . I am very happy with the staff working around my crazy work schedule. Can't wait to complete my review once my surgery is completed.

Doing them at the same time seems like a wise choice. Do you have someone to help you when you get home?

Yes, thank you for asking, My mother and my daughters nanny. Have you ever had a hysterectomy?

UPDATED FROM Dhop
6 days pre
1week to go
I'm a little nervous, 7 days out so I stopped at the pharmacy and I was able to pick up my meds and a couple of key items that I may need while I'm off my feet. I'm a little pissed at my Gyn office , I've been to thE office 4 times since I decided to have a hysterctomy and somehow when I went to the hospital for pre-op testing they picked up that my consent form was never signed. Just another item that I don't want to deal with.
The only silver lining is that I will be pain free and I can say goodbye to my endometrois... Oh yeah and a FLAT TUMMY. ... I will keep you posted

Thanks for checking in. I am working towards being pain free, but life is good and I'm doing much better.

Hi!
just wondering how you are doing- hope everything went well! I'm having the same thing in a few weeks- not digging the expected down time, but the chance of being PAIN-FREE and flat is worth it!!

Hi,
Thank you for the email it has been 6 weeks and things are getting better but I am still not myself. I am nit driving yet and still have pain on a scale of 1-10 the a array is about a5 now. Getting both procedures completed at the same time takes a lot out of you and I am hopeful that you have a great support system ( live in.). But please give me a call and I can give you some insight. 215 888 7521.

Oh good grief! how did I miss this?!?!?! Well, I'm 2 weeks post op I stayed in the hospital for 3 days, and if I could have squeezed another few days out, I would have!!
The pain was almost unbearable the first night. I was aware that pain management was possibly going to be an issue- just because I was already on some very strong pain meds ..but I had no idea how painful it was going to be! I was really only prepared for incisional pain, so from the moment I woke up until about 10 hours later, it was an 11 on the 1-10 scale, and I was getting dilaudid every 2 hours!! eventually I got down to a 7 , but nights were always a 10.
I'm curious if others have felt the same thing, but it was like the most intense period cramps I've ever had. With the uterus being gone, it was like the"phantom pain" that an amputee experiences. I could feel every single uterine nerve that was severed, and what was left felt like it was whipping around in circles, frantically looking for the missing piece Then the accompanying gas pains that started the next day. whew! I'm glad to be through the worst of it.
My mother came the day after I was out of hospital and is leaving tomorrow morning. I'm lucky enough to have a super-independent husband and 2 teenagers on autopilot..I just started driving a few days ago and am probably going back to my desk job next week (but only 4 hours in office-rest at home)..well-that is if things continue going well. I can tell my stamina is not completely there, but as long as I don't overdo it (the way I always do)... I'll get there. Lately the insomnia is killing me. I don't know if it's a hormonal thing or not, but I might need to resort to meds-at least to reset myself.. Only about 2 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours. take care & please check your inbox:)
I am happy that you started your review before the surgery. We want to hear all of the details as you go through the process. Make sure to also take your before and after pictures.
