WORTH IT$2,500
I am a 65 year old woman who has had a facelift, a neck lift, Fraxel laser (4 years ago) and various fillers over the years. I was interested in reducing the fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. FIVE days in, and I would to share a bit of my experience.
Profound is not done on the forehead (at least by my doctor). I chose to have just the lower face done, and not the neck at this time, since having had a neck lift about 5 years ago, I do have some crepey skin, but not too bad.
Most of the time in the procedure is due to pain management. My nurse applied a numbing cream, and then gave me 4 shots of dental block in my gums. After that, she probably gave me 50 or more tiny shots of lidocaine just below the skin. All of this probably took an hour or more.
The procedure itself was pretty simple. She covered my temples, my cheeks, my chin and upper lip with the microneedling device. It took probably at least 40-50 applications of the microneedles. It was painless in my cheeks, but QUITE painful around my lips and temples. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, but at the end I was quite happy that I was NOT DOING MY NECK! I honestly don't think I could have taken much more in one session :(
The bruising around my chin and mouth were quite severe. After 5 days, they are starting to fade, but I did look like I had been in a bar fight :) Other than that, my face has a lot of red bumps.
I will continue to post as I heal, and also post some pictures. However, I just wanted to add a little more info for anyone thinking about this procedure.
