Hello! I am finally starting my own blog after stalking this site for YEARS! I even had an appointment for a consult in 2012 but got cold feet and cancelled it- after my friend got a breast Aug last year and I did the "pencil test" and could walk around all day without it falling- I am going for it!

So glad you are starting your story with us! Here's a list of pre- and post-op tips for you. Do you have a good support system to help you through this?

Thanks Angie- I am so happy to be here- I love this site - I will post some pics for sure- probably next month- I talked to the nurse and booked my consult with my PS yesterday- all set for April and then hope to have my surgery at the end of April- getting really excited! I do have a husband who does not think that I "need this" but is supportive and a son who is young but really great and helpful- I have told 2 or 3 close friends who have had plastic surgery before or who I know understand but I am not really planning on telling anyone else or any other family members- I have planned to have the surgery on a TR and have off then that Friday- that weekend- the following week and weekend and Monday and TU- coming back for half days on WED and TR and full time Friday- that will give me 13 full days and 2 half days off so a total of 14 days and I have a desk job~

Why exactly do you need someone with you the first few days after sugery? I will have my husband there to bring me home and I am staying one night in the hospital but if I have surgery on TR- get home on FR and he is gone all day on SAT at a tournament do I NEED to have someone else around for those 6 or so hours? I am pretty self sufficient but I don't want to be stupid with this-

It's to assist you after surgery due to pain, being on pain meds, etc and (God willing they won't be needed) to make emergency decisions should something change during surgery. I have not had my surgery yet, but I had 3 hernias repaired at once which required muscle repair and I could NOT stand up straight for about 3 days. Even if you're not having any abdominal work it will still be uncomfortable or painful and you'll need physical assistance. I've read other cases on Just Breast Implants website where a few have gone without for their surgery and some have been fine though the rest have said it was very difficult.

What is the pencil test?

From a surgeons website: By placing a pencil beneath your breast and if your nipple hangs below the pencil when you sit or stand, then you may need a breast lift. If the nipple is above, increasing the fullness may correct this.

I have been really good this last week with my diet and working out but the scale has not moved ! ugh- I have a tight time frame to get closer to my goal weight before I meet with my PS for the first time in April- I am 5.5 and weight 179 as of today:( I really want to be closer to 150 when I have my surgery in April(very end) and final goal is 138 after everything- any tips on the best ways to lose weight other than good old diet and exercise(trust me- I am doing that!)- let me know~~~

Thoughts on protein-whey shakes as meal replacements?
February 10, 2015
Hello and thank you for sharing your story!!! I noticed a comment for protein shakes. If for some reason you don't like or cannot tolerate the shakes, I drink Isopure protein juice (you can get either powder or ready-made). I'm 5'7" so not much taller and I put off losing the weight from having my twins. They turned 3 years old October, 2014. LOL. I figured I had no more excuses. I started at 163 and used an app called Lose It. In 2 months I got down to 140-145 depending on the time of month. ;-) So maybe that might work for you. I'm moving back to WI because my husband got orders to go to Kuwait and I'd love to hear what you think of your doctor. I was thinking of surprising my hubby and have it done before he comes home.

Swimming is the best way to lose weight. I swam every night for an hour and managed to lose twenty pounds in two weeks. I needed to lose weight right before my gastric bypass and wanted to do something that did not make me sweat profusely. Swimming has now become a way of life for me.
