Had the excel v laser by cutera to treat two bright red spots on my cheek (each about around 1cm x 2 cm in size). The doctor said they were both port wine stains with broken capillaries. I had one session three weeks ago and am extremely happy with the results. The broken capillaries have vanished and the red patches are much smaller and lighter. I highly recommend this procedure, but PLEASE NOTE that each of the spots turned dark purple for around 1 week. The Excel V is advertised as "little to no down time" with a possibility of redness or swelling. This is a major understatement. If you are planning on having this done just be advised that you will be swollen for 2 days and have dark purple, nearly navy blue marks on your face for nearly a week. The doctor was great and advised me before the procedure that this would happen, though this information isn't widely available when researching the Excel V independently.

Thanks for taking the time to share your personal experience with us. I've never heard of the Excel V laser, very interesting. Do you have to have multiple treatments?

Would you consider sharing some before and progress photos with the community?

I had the excel done and I'm so glad I read this. I was told little down time with possibly a little puffiness and I've been really nervous b/c I have what your describing. I'm not bruised but it's red/ maybe purplish looking a little scabbed. I thought something was really wrong bc was told brusising and puffiness but nothing like this. Mine almost looks like scabs. Do you remember much about when you had this done?

I have what looks like red marks and some areas look like scabs. Did you guys have the same thing?? I just got it done yesterday and I’m a little freaked out by all the red scab looking marks on my face. Please let me know.
