One month - sudden blurryness

$3,000
It's been about 5 weeks since my Lasik and have been suffering quite a bit of dryness some days better then others.

Today I had a nap for an couple of hours and when I woke up my right eye was completely blurry.

Has freaked me out a lot and I will be try to make an emergency appointment to see someone at optimax tomorrow.

The offices are closed so have left a voicemail. I'm so worried right now!!

OMG, I hope your eyes are ok although I would have gone to emergency nhs eye service. To make sure everything was ok at least then you would have some peace of mind. Hope everything is ok.
What is the latest with your eyesight? Hope it's healed.
Hope you're ok! I've been there.

3 weeks post op

I went for my check up after 2 weeks and the optomologist at optimax (Bristol, U.K.) said my eyes were healing as expected.

She said to continue using drops even if my eyes didn't feel dry. But I am still getting dry eyes so that's not going to be an issue.

The dry eyes got better from the first week but I'm still living with dry eyes...which is worse when in using the computer and during the night. I've not had a full nights sleep since LASIK as I get up after about 4hrs because my eyes are so dry.

the popped blood vessels have gone down a lot and hopefully will be gone in a few more weeks.

I also have some glare at night which seems to be more prominent some days then others not sure if what that means.

The aftercare at optimax is terrible if you have any side effects. The Ophthalmologists was miserable and even my sister who came with me said she come across as if she hates her job and rather jaded.

She tested my eyes and initially said I had no astigmatism left but when she was using the lenses Infront of my eyes I could see the chart a bit more sharper....when I asked her to write my prescription down she refused to as she said they wait till the 3 month period before providing me with a prescription.

When I pushed her further she admitted that there was some astigmatism left and a bit of a prescription but I'm still not sure as she didn't clearly tell me the measurements.

I will get independently assessed.

Hi All - This is my 1st post here so i apologies...

Hi All - This is my 1st post here so i apologies if i have posted in the wrong place. I also feel that this forum is maybe used more frequently by Americans where as i am based in the UK, London/Bristol.

So I had Lasik 12 days ago after much consideration and talking to many people. Everyone i know has had a fantastic result from it and i kept hearing the same lines from multiple people, "best thing i have ever done", "you won't regret it", "i should have done it sooner". Unfortunately my results have been less satisfactory and i guess I’m just looking for some advice or need to be listened to as i bang on :-)

My prescription:

SPH
Right: -0.75
Left: -1.00

CYL
Right: -3.00
Left: - 2.75

AXIS
Right: 10.0
Left: 173.0

As you can see my astigmatism is higher than my sight. After the surgery my vision wasn't great but went to sleep and then went to the next day following. I was told i was legal to drive (in the UK i believe that made 20:40 - not even sure).

I had noticed that my left eye was shaper then my right but neither were perfect. Since then i have been resting and letting my eyes heal. The 1st week I was suffering from server dry eyes and even after 4 days rest going to work was a struggle as my eyes burned looking at the computer screen all day, I spent the day drowning my eyes with drops every 10 mins. The drops made my vision better and a lot sharper. The dry eye this week (2nd week) has improved to a tolerable level but is still impacting vision, I’m staying optimistic that this will improve.

Once I have put the drop in my distance vision still isn’t good and I struggle seeing road signed from afar.

I was looking around the paper work provided and among the paper work was a print out of what measurements where inputted in to the laser machine by the surgeon and what I saw was the following.

SPH
Right: 1.00
Left: 0.75

CYL
Right: 3.00
Left: 2.75

It looks like the surgeon got inputted my astigmatism measurements right but muddled up my sight. I wanted to ask if anyone would know what the ramifications of this would be? A small over correction and small under correction in each eye? I have a follow up on Saturday and will be asking the optometrist about this.

Even with this error made by the surgeon my sight should be better then what it is now. The sharpness isn’t there and my distance vision is blurry making me believe that I still have an astigmatism left over.

I wanted to understand from other people’s experience, is my astigmatism particularly large? Do I run the same risk again if I have an enhancement (dry eyes, halo, light sensitivity)? The surgon entering the wrong prescription (even if small difference) is this acceptable and jusyt seen as a risk one must accept?

Sorry this turned out so long.

Thanks
