Happy New Year M, if I can just shake this sore throat I'll be on the other side soon!

Hello MtheV, just read your review. Like you said, what a difference 3 days make!!! I've just been given a date for my surgery (21st Jan). The hospital have told me they don't do the surgical bras and have recommended I get a soft cup bra like the pink one you are wearing in your photo. I have got one but I'm worried about the size as it isn't tight around the back or anything but, given the size of my puppies, it just sags at the front. How did you decide on the size of your bra? I'm thinking I need to get a smaller one as I'm 32 inches round my back?

Hi Maz, sorry for delay, been at family for Panto & Dad's 81st birthday, always a mad one with my family! You must be excited with your surgery getting so near! I was wearing a Genie bra in the photo - my body shape is generally a size 14 (occasionally a 12 if I lose a bit of weight!) - was thinking I would need a 14 if swollen/bandaged, or a 12 if I was in need of compression. In the event it's the smaller size I've mostly used. I ordered some from China as they had prettier colours! But the most useful and most used bra has been the Royce Comfort Bra: front fastening and reassuring. The fabric is supportive but soft. Then I change into the Genie Bra for nighttime. After about a week I bought a cheap Sports bra from Asda, 34C, that's been worn a lot too. Sorry, you specifically asked about size: I was 32J , had asked to be a C (which I knew might end up close to a D). So I bought the Royce post-op bra 1 size up to allow for swelling (34D). It fitted post op although a bit stretched with bandage & swelling. Now 7 weeks PO it still fits, although I can see it has a little cup room now. When I needed a little gauze to cover my tiny holes this bra held everything in place really well, no complaints at all. Main thing is to have one where the base sits well below a normal bra-line to avoid irritation anywhere near your scars. It is so weird Maz after the op when you look down and they're not there!! I've had some tiny moments when I've thought "Oh My God they are so much smaller" and then remembered that's exactly what I wanted!! It can take a while I think to remember that having a big bust is seen as desirable in society Mostly by people who don't have to cart them around all day. I love being this small! And I look slimmer even though my tummy is bigger!! Very best of luck! Xx

Thanks M. That was really helpful. The Royce bra does look like the best option, so going to go on line now and have a look. Hope you enjoyed the panto. :-)

... Hate it when that happens!!

Hadn't finished editing it!! So I had about 8 days of slight oozing at 3 T-section sites, exactly like some other people had described so I wasn't worried. It wasn't even every day, one of them was nearly every day and the other 2 sites hardly at all. As of 5 weeks I can sleep on my sides! I was actually very comfortable in our normal bed on my back with heaps of pillows, but it's nice to sleep on my sides again, just for variety! I expect to be massaging my scars within a couple of days, and starting on the Gel+ tape. Don't feel like going running would be sensible yet, but have been walking 15 miles a week since week 2, and last week found myself running upstairs without thinking, then clutching my chest to avoid damaging anything (plus slight disco fort as still swollen a little); but how amazing, to be running without thinking first - such a good sign I am feeling much much better! No regrets at all about having this done, best thing ever!!

5 Weeks Post-Op

tiny holes developed at about 4 weeks at 3 of my 4 T-sections didn't develop into anything. The one under my left nipple was quite an indentation about 3mm across and a dark sunken scab. The wish to pull it away was very strong, but I managed to resist (seen enough scary pictures to want to leave well alone!!). It is now levelling out and behaved well the whole time. The tiny holes under each breast again behaved well - both gave off a little stuff but I just used plain gauze, no ointments or anything, just a shower every few days. Everything I've seen suggests not interfering with them unless they get inflamed/hot/infected.
