Having 2 c-sections that went hip bone to hip...

Having 2 c-sections that went hip bone to hip bone, this disgusting over-flap tummy tends to get sweaty and infected unless I keep deodorant there at all times. I'm so tired of spending 22 years of my life trying to keep it dry and to hide it. After 28 years of emotional abuse, I got the divorce and found the love I only dreamed of so wedding will be April 23, 2016 with my first ever honeymoon!! I've wanted a tummy tuck for all these years and am finally spending some money to get my body back! I wish it were tomorrow! I'm so excited and can't wait to get it done. Unfortunately I am so gung-ho that I almost made a huge mistake. The first Dr I went to I paid that day to hurry it up, then I got home and decided to research reviews....dumb huh?! The Dr had only a few reviews and all were bad! I then did it the right way and found a 5 star PS who I meet face to face tomorrow! I called his office, the Dr actually answered the phone and spent 30 minutes talking to me and asked to pray for me! He is also $3000 cheaper and 30 min closer! I'm excited to meet him and will update to let you know if he's the ONE! Praying he is because I'm ready!

Dr Bandeian has been so wonderful from the start! He walked me through the process on my first visit so I really didn't have any more questions for him before the surgery.

Hi kim
My story is simular to urs I go in for tummy tuck and Lipo on 10th Jan and I'm dreading it...I've heard it's so painful ...I've very 3 yr old twin grandaughters I look after 3 days a week and only have 1 week off from that.
I'm going with the hospital group in UK. .not that I've heard from anyone since I first saw my surgeon 6 months ago...I've no clue what to pack ? What il need ? Or how to cope after ??
December 28, 2015
You need to call them and get your meds lined up! There are great lists on here of things to buy and what you'll need. I don't think you'll be able to keep the kids for at least 3 weeks. You don't want to risk tearing open and infection. Aft 2 c-sections I'm not scared. ..at least not yet! Keep me informed as I'll be praying for you!
December 28, 2015
Thx kim
I keep trying to call but the never get back to me..I've just no clue what I'm meant to take to hospital? Have you taken any pre op medication ?? Il pray for u..I'm 6 days before you so il try and get in touch after !! I just pray it's not unbearable pain and the twins sit n watch TV alot !!!!
December 28, 2015
If they don't return your calls, I'd consider getting a different Dr! I'm worried for you! I have antibiotics to take the morning of and evening after and my pain pills. Plus he gave me a list of things not to take 2 weeks prior to surgery.
December 28, 2015
I went to see 4 different drs and he seemed great.
But since then nothing !!! Really starting to regret it now...already pain 6,400 pound !! R u in UK? ?
December 28, 2015
No, I'm in USA. Did you pay them already?
December 28, 2015
Yes in UK you pay 21 days before operation! ! And lose 75 % if u cancel ...so guess I'm abit stuck now...
December 28, 2015
You need to keep calling until they call you or go there in person and tell them you need to talk to someone about preparing!

I email back and forth with the nurse/receptionist. She's been wonderful :)
January 16, 2016
That's great! I haven't tried that but I have her number! I get most of my answers on here!

I am so excited for you and will be following you. You are actually the first person I have found that talks about the issue of trying to keep the area underneath the tummy flap clean and dry. If I am not careful - away hiking/backpacking as one example, the area can get infected and is difficult to deal with. I find it is getting worse as I get older (nearly 53) and my skin is getting heavier. I have scheduled myself for a TT for April 1st - for the 3rd time as I cancelled the previous two times because I never got down my goal pre-surgery weight of 150lbs. This time I have decided I just have to do it and stop dreaming I will get the off first (I am 168lbs right now). I am nervous as heck as I have never had surgery before. It also seems hard to imagine being out of commission for so long and of course the pain and just the thought of a possible complication. Anyway, what a wonderful gift to yourself after all your you have been through. Sounds like you have a lot to look forward to in life now :-).
January 13, 2016
Oh elaine99,I get such an infection that it will bleed and the smell is horrible! I tried powder for years but it wears off fast. ..the area stayed dry but only as long as the powder stayed put! Then an RN told me to use deodorant there. I haven't had an infection since but omgosh, it stays soaking wet, just doesn't stay wet at that site. All I could think about was I'd be an old lady in the nursing home rotting away because who would want to lift that big fat roll and put the deodorant there?!! Yuck!
I promise I'll be honest with you as I go through the surgery on Thursday but since you've never had surgery, it will be hard to find something to compare it to. I'm so looking forward to getting this over with and enjoying the "no roll" look! I'll follow you on here as you progress! Good luck!
January 13, 2016
Thanks for the reply! I will try the deodorant idea for now but your description of being an old lady is exactly how I was thinking!! I will make a review soon so you can follow me too :-). Sending positive vibes :-).
January 14, 2016
Thanks so very much!
January 17, 2016
I was that weight with 7 pound overhang. I look so much better. I did not get lipo either the reason I did it was infections and the smell. Deodorant would irritate my c section. I used hydrogen peroxide. If you look at my profile you can see how heavy it was. My husband would lift my skin and clean for me. So glad that is over no more infections. I will have you in my thoughts and prayers
January 17, 2016
Thank you so very much for prayers! It's good to know that you are doing well and the journey is worth it! I'm going to look at your profile and follow you! It's good to have sisters to share this with!
January 17, 2016
Aw bless you..it would be lovely to have a friend xx
January 17, 2016
Your so brave , chin up , new life ahead for us xx
January 17, 2016
I think we are all friends going through the same process!
January 17, 2016
I have met some of the kindest people...now friends. It is not the same ... My friends I meet through real self understand me because we lived it. I still follow woman I see with my shape. I get excited to know that life has changed!never meet a few in person.
January 17, 2016
Soul friends are the best!! So glad I have you to follow and know what to expect. When can I cough without it hurting? I'm on stool softener and still haven't had a BM since Wed before my Thurs surgery....not looking forward to pain!
January 18, 2016
I got off the pills after 3 days and was ok with tylenol extra strength. That does bind you up. Cough give it a month but even 4 months out it still hurts a bit. This is a big surgery did you get colace that work for me I think it was 3 times a day. Narcotics are just so binding. Drink lots of fluid, after one of my c section I was so constipated I needed to squat and pull it out. Mind you I had staples I never want to go through that again.
January 18, 2016
one last thing baby wipes to clean your self after bowel movement. Have a grocery bag to throw them away. It made it easier for my husband since he had to help. Even when i did myself I just felt cleaner.
January 18, 2016
Thank you so very much for the help! I've had to cough a few times and it scares me, even the pillow doesn't do much for it! I've been taking the Phillips milk of magnesia tablets every night and started that 2 weeks prior to surgery. I've had gas but no feeling to go otherwise. I may ask for suppository at Dr visit today. I believe he'll take these drains out. I'm going to take a pain pill before my visit and hopefully that will be the last one I need! I've only been taking one at bedtime really. I will get my fiance to buy some baby wipes and stock the bathroom with grocery bags! Thanks for the suggestion! I'm praying he says I can walk upright soon so I can really start staying up. Bed is the only place my back doesn't hurt. I do have a weird sensation in the calf of my right leg, very sore to walk and tender to touch.
January 18, 2016
Get a massager for your legs.if you laid up or sleeping a lot hat will help with blood circulation not as nice as th ones they put on during surgery. A small massager you can move to the area you need it legs or back.you don want a blood clot issues.
January 18, 2016
Thank you! I'll do that! He almost sent me for an ultrasound but he checked it and we discussed it and we are going to wait. I do think it's because I've just been laying around!

Met my Dr today!

Kim27465
Met Dr. John Bandeian today and feel very comfortable and confident in him. He explained everything and also asked in depth questions about my medical history. I will be staying overnight at the hospital and have drains removed about 3 days later. He told me to expect to have more pain than I had with c-sections but I'd be happy with results. I'm getting everything prepared for surgery. We needed a new bed so I bought an adjustable one on my way home since he said I'd need to be 30° elevated for the first 10 days. I'm so ready to get this surgery!

So happy for you!! I can only imagine how excited you are to get this surgery and then get married to your love. Incredible! My procedure is a week after you on Jan 21 so I will be following your progress. Yay for us! :)
December 15, 2015
We can do this @marymack63!! I'll have time to update before you go so I'll post as much as I can to give you an idea of how it goes! So true. ...Yay for us! :)
December 15, 2015
Just curious, how long did it take for your profile blog to get processed? I submitted one about 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard back from them. Didn't realize it would take so long.
December 15, 2015
I did it last night and it came up today. ...maybe resubmit?
December 15, 2015
HOLY! What the heck man. It won't allow me to resubmit....I tried. I will msg them again. Thanks :)

Just wondering. ..

Kim27465
The Dr told me that I would need to walk bent over for 10 days so I didn't pop stitches. ...is this normal protocol? Also, has anyone used a walker during that time to decrease risk of back pain? And I would love to hear from others who have had a TT after 2 c-sections and which hurt worse?! I'm going back to work after 19 days and will be keeping my 2 year old grandson. ....it's this possible? Is pain mostly gone after 2 weeks? Thank you all for your help!

December 19, 2015
I haven't had my procedure yet, but I have read from a few people that they have used a walker and it has been a life saver! You should definitely consider it. I will be borrowing one from my dad as he doesn't really use it.
December 19, 2015
Thanks so much @marymack63!! I will go get one as I can't afford back issues too!
December 19, 2015
Pleasure Kim27465 :)
January 15, 2016
I have a lot of back issues normally and was worried I'd be back to the chiropractor asap after the surgery what with the bent over pain, but it all went away as soon as I was at about 1.5-2 weeks. So before I was standing completely straight, but can't guess the percentage.
January 15, 2016
Thank you for giving me an idea of the time line! My back seems to be the most problem. My stomach is just feeling like fire but very tolerable!
December 19, 2015
Hi, I had two c-sections. I had an Oblation, a beast reduction, a bunion removed.... the Tummy tuck was the least painful. I did have muscle repair. I also had pain medication injected into my belly wall. I am now 14 days PO and still have problems walking straight, picking things from floor, swelling and using the bathroom. Please please please, buy or get some kind of stool softner. Yes, back pain was crazy for the 1st 5 days. I also suggest you get a shower seat. I don't think you should take care of a 2 yr old. I have 14 yr old twins who are running the household and an 8 yr old son who is helping me up and taking out trash and picking things up from the floor. I return to work only a week after surgery but I do work from home. I take a 5 minute walk break every hour.
December 19, 2015
I'm sorry you had to go through other pain but I'm glad to hear the TT was least painful! My 2nd c-section hurt pretty bad, no pain with first one! I'm a dental hygienist and only work 2 days a week so I'm hoping that I'll feel good enough to go back after 2 1/2 weeks! Thanks for heads up on keeping the 2 year old, I'll just have them stay home with us on Wed nights for a few weeks!
When should I start the stool softener? I bought it so I'd be ready! I'll get a bath chair this week to have on hand as well! Thanks for your wonderful advice!!
December 19, 2015
Just wanted to give you an idea of the surgeries I've had... yes my second c section was very painful as it go infected and the ER doc was very rude when opening the c section to release the presure and infection. Yes in a scale TT the day after surgery will be the most painful and when I say most it was only like a 4 in a scale of 1-10. The other days are more like a 2... I started vitamin C, multivitamin ,and stool softener all the week before my surgery and that wants enough I went about 3 days without having a BM so u used an enema... have one in hand just in case. The pain pills oxycodone will do wonders but will also mess your belly. Looking forward to your response sx day.
December 19, 2015
I've been taking multi vitamin and was taking 3000mg vit. C but dr said that it makes bleeding more pronounced. ..I think I'll keep using it though. I'll start the softener 2 weeks before and see how that goes! He's given me percocet for pain. Thanks for your help so very much!
January 15, 2016
2.5 weeks should be good. Gives you a few more days. Rest up while you can!!
January 15, 2016
I couldn't believe the walking bent over part either (my nurse said 2 weeks completely hunched) so assumed since I'm in such good shape with good posture, I'd be upright in no time! Wrong! That was the hardest thing and the back pain seemed worse than the incision pain. It passes though. I wasn't fully upright for 2.5 weeks but way more comfy when I was about 1.5 weeks out. You have to go by how you feel and don't do anything that pulls. Everyone is different. I did not use a walker of any type but rested after short walks around the house and the one time I went to the store used one of the handicapped carts (kinda fun!)
As for the pain, I'd say it's different from c sections so kind of hard to compare. I've had many surgeries and this was by far the easiest, probably for many reasons but especially because of my physical condition at this time. I wouldn't think it's a good idea to care for a 2 year old without help when you can't pick him/her up and are still actively recovering. I went back to work at 2 weeks and it was a very tough week. Had my peak swelling that week and needed to lay down for 15 minutes or so several times a day to keep discomfort manageable. I had to lay on the floor in an empty office and let me tell you, getting down was a heck of a lot easier than getting up! But I needed to get horizontal with feet up for awhile. After that first week back, it was all much easier.
January 16, 2016
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm counting down to the 1.5 week mark as I'm praying I do as well as you! After talking to the PS and reading what you wrote, I went ahead and took an extra week off from work. I'm a dental hygienist and never know when I'd have time to put my feet up! I'm feeling more at peace with that decision! I'm so happy I got on this website as you have been so extremely helpful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

oh boy, I'm only planning on 2 weeks off. I have a desk job so hopefully that's enough time
January 16, 2016
My doc said that was enough. I didn't realize how much I twist and turn and bend down for my job! Non stop. I'm a school office manager in a large school and will never underestimate how busy and active I am at work after that experience. They kept telling me to take an extra week off but I didn't want to get behind. But I made it through and you will too. Just take it as easy as you can and let other people lift things for you. I found sitting bothered me more as when I stood it pulled more. Weird but it still does if I sit long. Like the skin or muscles get relaxed and then when you stand they stretch? Don't know but when I could, I used my standing desk, which was much better.

I'm going to borrow my mom's walker. She doesn't need it right now and I'm not taking any chances

You'll be glad you got it!
