Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Surgery is today! I have read and re-read so many reviews on here and followed so many journeys on here! I have lists upon lists of things to buy and how to recover well at home - so a huge thank you to the ladies who take the time to document their journeys.
I am 43 yo (only had one child and she is nearly 20 now) and have always coped will with a large bust, but the last few years has just seen me grow and grow and then droop! Talk about heavy. I am a 12E/F depending on brand. When my period is due, I am a very full F cup and it's very painful - even movement from walking is painful at this time.
I have the standard issues as everyone else here - shoulder, neck pain, and have decided that a breast reduction would be cheaper than the weekly cost of massages.
SO! Here I go!
I am a Registered Nurse of 11years and have been working in Theatre for the past 12 months, so the operating environment is not new to me nor are surgeons or even the actual procedure! (I just scrubbed for a breast reduction 2 days ago :). On the wards I worked on a busy post-operative ward, so have watched thousands of recoveries and helped endless people out of bed on day 1, removed drains, catheters, packed dressings etc etc. HOWEVER - this is my first anaesthetic, and that part is unknown to me. I have never personally experienced the pain, nausea, grogginess etc. Fingers crossed I behave.
I was terribly anxious yesterday, but got very distracted at work last night and I am calm once more. I haven't had much sleep, as I think I just can't wait any longer! Today is finally here! I feel super organised with the house, my hospital bag, ice packs, pillows, comfort clothes, etc. I have tried to have every outcome covered. Just a quick visit to Woolworths for fresh food this morning and I'm done. Might even have time for a massage as I am not due at hospital until 11.30am :)
I have decided not to mention my surgeon by name at this early stage, but am happy to discuss privately with any fellow sistas living local. It was a hard process to choose my surgeon, because I work with a few at work, and of course you talk to others who have had the operation etc etc. it got so confusing! At the end of the day, I went with the same surgeon who did my niece (one year ago today!) and I decided not to use my work facilities. Whilst I love my hospital and colleagues, I didn't find it necessary for them to witness my journey, although I am happy to tell everyone about it. So I will be at The Wesley Hospital - staying one night and home tomorrow. I will add photos as I go.
