I had a neck and lower face lift 8 weeks ago and I am thrilled with my results. I take care of myself but gravity was winning where my neck was concerned. I met with several surgeons for consults, did my homework, and found the best fit for me was Dr. Boggess. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision! It's beyond frightening to let someone cut on your face...we've all seen plastic surgery gone wrong horror pictures. Matter of fact, I was frightened to the point of wanting to cancel even the morning of surgery. But my reflection in the iPhone was more frightening so I stayed the course. If I had known how easy the surgery was and how great the results would be, I would have had this procedure a couple of years ago!
Things I wish I could tell any potential client that is struggling with this decision or on the fence:
1) My friend and I did this surgery with Dr. Boggess one week apart from each other. We both look ten years younger and would both tell you it's one of the best decisions we've ever made. After one week, we were both out in public with friends that didn't even notice we had anything done. The beauty of having the surgery in the winter is stocking hats and scarves! So we both look better but still look like ourselves.
2) The procedure is easy. I chose to do it without sedation and worried myself sick what that was going to be like. Hello....Piece of cake! Everyone in the office had said it would be, but you just don't know until you know for yourself. Dr. Boggess and his staff are so calming that you just know you're in good hands. You feel nothing during the procedure and there's no grogginess or nausea afterwards like with full sedation. 30 minutes after surgery, I was being wheeled out with a less than attractive head-dress, but I felt great, remember everything, and got to make fun of how goofy I looked on the car ride home.
3) You will literally be able to get away with only taking tylenol after day 1. It's truly that painless of a procedure. I can't emphasize that enough...again, I kick myself that I waited a year because I was afraid of this part.
4) If you think you need this procedure but want to wait a couple of years, don't! All three consults I had said the results are better the sooner you get the procedure if you're a candidate...It's less obvious that you had work done and the results are better.
5) They tell you it's going to feel tight...they aren't lying. Chewing is difficult the first two weeks. But once your stitches come out at week one, things start improving dramatically each day.
6) The scar was also a huge concern for me, but turns out it's very minimal and hard to even see already. Everyone brags on Dr. Boggess and his suture skills and for good reason. Three weeks post-op and I ask my husband to help me put on the silicone gel that was recommended for the insicison scar....and my husband tells me he can't see the incision or where he is supposed to put it! That's a job well done, Dr Boggess.
