Problem spot and Spitting Suture?? Please Help!

Strbcksgal
WORTH IT
Not sure if this is normal or not my left breast seems to be healing well but found what seems and feels like a suture poking through right at the T site...right breast initially had a dark spot the PS stated was not necrosis. It healed and was discharging until recently where it is now hard and seems like it has “scabbed” over. I don’t see my surgeon again until August so I am unsure if I should make an appt to see him earlier please help!

Hey we are healing together my surgery was June 11. I have had a few spots that look very similar. I just put some ointment and a bandaid for a few days and they cleared up.

Good to hear! That’s what I’ve been doing and it’s definitely helping ! Have a couple spots on my nipple I’m worried about tho now almost looks like a tiny hole where sutures tried to surface but couldn’t. I don’t see my surgeon until August 8th! Last I saw him was 4 weeks ago...I’m not sure whether I am able to begin anything for scar treatment yet? :( or if I should be massaging etc. I will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow!

I could not be happier with how I am healing! I’ve been so cautious with dressing changes and following doctors orders. I am so thankful for my surgeons amazing work! I finally feel like a young woman again, one breast seems to be healing a little slower than the other (right) however surgeon mentioned this is very common! The dark spot turned out to be dried blood/bruising and has cleared up well! Long way to go but I am feeling great! The itchiness has set in for sure :/ however I must remind myself this is good as itchy means healing! I was told to only be applying polysporin and gauze to my vertical line/T spot, would it help to apply anywhere else? The itchiness is hard to bear some days, especially under the breast fold!

You’re looking great! I just had my BR surgery on Thursday 6/21. We should keep in touch. You’re healing beautifully. I noticed you don’t have “before” pics (totally fine) but I wondered what size you started out? I started a 34H and I’m hoping to end up a 34D or 36C. Somewhere in there! Right now I’m ALL black and blue and yellow and orange, so it’s nice to see your photo since you’re 11 days ahead of me in the healing process. Do you have any numbness? My breasts are both pretty numb in the lower, outside quadrant. But I can feel my nipples so yay for that. Good luck with your healing.

Thank you! I really am healing very well! A few scary times as I am a worry wart but the nurses and surgeon himself have said all of my incisions are healing very well! You just need to trust the process. I started out 38DDD/F and he asked what size i would like to be we agreed on 38C so far seems to be accurate as the surgical bra I have is a 38C but will need to wait until all the swelling is down to tell for sure! I am in love with my new ladies he did such a Great job...Bruising is normal! Yellow and orange are a good sign, sign of healing :) I have a little bit of numbness I had more my first week but sensations are slowly coming back it will take time! My nipples are super sensitive so I too was super happy about that! Lol better that then no feeling....the most numbness is also in the lower quadrants for me. I assume it is because the most manipulation occurs there so it would take the longest for all of the nerves to rebuild in those areas. I have been so up and down worrying and then things turning out to be nothing! Just stay on top of things and you should be okay, I had a dark spot at one of my t-sites and I thought it was necrosis so i called my surgeons office and went in to see him early (wednesday 20th), but turns out it definitely wasn’t necrosis yay! He took my steristrips off that Day and told me to place gauze with polysporin on my vertical scar changing it twice a day and this cleared the dark spot completely :)! You still have the steristrips though so my advice is stay on top of keeping the areas clean/clean bra as you should not be getting the area wet at all, changing bandages/gauze etc. I had to get used to half baths waist down and using baby wipes for the first while until my surgeon gave me the go ahead for a shower even now I am to keep the running water off of my breasts/incision sites. Good luck with your healing as well! Any questions don’t be afraid to ask! :)

What a great/detailed response. Thanks for that. There’s so much to learn about this procedure for something you’re only going to do once in life! Once my drains were removed on day 3 my surgeon gave me permission to shower and get my breasts wet, even though they have tape. The tape doesn’t come off, and it dries in a couple minutes after showering. The past two days I haven’t had any leaking/oozing so that’s nice. I agree with you about keeping bras and dressings clean and dry. I’ve been putting a fresh bra on each morning after showering. I’m REALLY hoping to avoid infection. That “T” area in the middle seems to be the problem area for a lot of people on this site so I’m watchful. And I don’t touch my breasts at all unless I have gloves on. Not until my wounds are fully healed up. Probably overkill. Haha. Oh well. I have a week long camp out starting at 3 weeks post-op so I’m trying to heal well and quickly. I was glad to hear numbness is common for you other girls. It’s an odd sensation. Glad your spot wasn’t necrosis. Isn’t that everyone’s absolute worst fear! My heart breaks each time I see pics of someone battling that. Keep in touch! I’ll follow your journey!

There really is! And oh my how Great was it getting those things out?! I was so happy to have the drains out the 2nd day! Mine said the steristrips could trap water underneath them/cause infection which you wouldn’t want but yours must be different as you say tape...mine would have lost their sticky-ness and come off if I did that. I had no leaking or oozing at all until the steristrips came off then I had a bit, my left breast no longer has any and is healing well, right breast still has some yellow/orange discharge but he stated this little bit of discharge is normal as long as there is no green/or fowl odour coming from it...the black spot being gone is much more reassuring now I feel ten times better about the healing. It is very common to have one heal faster than the other. And your incisions sites will go from looking great to a “yikes is that normal” to looking fine again. Just need to trust the process and make sure you check them daily. The polysporin I use now has antibiotics in it so that’s helping to keep the infection away! But yes the dreaded T area is where I was worried about most. I have touched mine but not directly on the incision sites just to feel for any heat/abnormalities which *knock on wood* there have been none thus far :) never too careful! I am leaving for a cottage next Monday actually which will be one day before my 3 week mark and so far things are looking good, I know I’ll still be restricted no swimming, no fishing, no lifting etc all stuff that would be put off till 6weeks post for me. But you should be comfortable at that point to enjoy your time away for sure as I’m already doing 110% better than I was my 1st week. Numbness is definitely an odd sensation, but totally normal. Necrosis is very scary and seeing pics of people battling it is for sure sad. But it’s not uncommon, and for the most part it caught early can be dealt with! Will do, I will follow yours too hoping you recover just as quickly as I have thus far !
