Breast Reduction at Yanhee International Hospital
I’ve been meaning to write this review for such a long time and kept putting it off, but I feel as though this community has helped me so much that hopefully this review will help someone else.
I contacted Yanhee hospital after being quoted $12k for a breast reduction from two different providers in Sydney, along with one also not wanting to do it. I’d spent $600 in consultation fees at this point which, in the grand scheme of what I’d have to pay in Aus wasn’t much, but still a waste. Anyway, fast forward to contacting Yanhee and I had an excellent experience with my international coordinator named Jag. She gave me lots of information, and I was given a quote based on photos. The final amount payable wasn’t confirmed until after my consultation with the doctor, but it ended up being pretty much the same. I emailed Jag once I’d booked my flights, and she organised a taxi from the airport and a hotel the night before the procedure. The hotel was extremely basic, but it was close to the hospital (within walking distance), was clean, and was pretty much just a place to lay down for a few hours.
The next day, I went in for my consultation. I was booked for 10am but didn’t get seen until around 11am. I didn’t really mind the wait as the hospital has wifi and was pleasant. My consultation with Dr Somsak was very short - maybe around 10 minutes. He was polite, but short and direct. He gave me very realistic expectations - I’ve always hated breasts (sorry, maybe an unpopular opinion!), and mine had become very saggy after a 20lb weight loss. He did explain that he wouldn’t want to remove too much tissue, there were limitations to how much he could remove, and I was fine with this. I was marked up and taken for my health check. This took around an hour, and then I was taken to my room. I wasn’t taken to surgery until 4pm, but after the anaesthetic kicked in, I don’t remember much other than waking up shaking (usual when coming round from anaesthesia). There was a heater under my blanket to help bring my body temperature up (apparently this is standard practice), and two nurses from what I remember.
From that point on, I was checked on every few hours or so. I don’t remember all that much as I was in and out due to sleeping tablets and painkillers. However, I do remember every single nurse being so friendly and thorough, helping to keep me clean and get up and down to the bathroom. There is a bit of a language barrier with some of the nurses, but I had no particular requests and was just happy not to be in any pain and that it was done. The dr came in each day if I remember correctly, just for a very brief checkup. After 3 days, I was discharged with medication, cleaning instructions and I was walking around fairly normally again. My partner helped me clean my wounds as instructed. I spent a lovely 10 days relaxing in Vietnam before I flew back to have my stitches out - this was done by a nurse and the dr then did one final check. All in all, I didn’t see Dr Somsak that much, but his work is phenomenal. I look back at the pictures and it doesn’t even seem like that much as taken away, but it made such a difference in the way my breasts sit and feel. I’m so happy with the results, and I’d do it ten times over.
For those wanting pandering 24/7, this may not be the hospital for you. Everyone is very friendly and ready to help when asked, but otherwise you will be checked on like clockwork but otherwise left to your own devices. The facilities are basic, but clean, and everything happens promptly.
Considering in Australia this procedure was going to bring with it a 3 month waiting time plus 4 times the price, I would without a doubt go back to Yanhee.
They recommend you stay in Bangkok for as long as possible in case of any complications, but I flew home after two weeks. I was able to contact Jag at any time, and indeed I did a few times for advice, which was answered with the same helpfulness as before the procedure. I have had no issues with healing, and the scars are barely visible to me (I have dark skin and was warned that they may be very dark but I can barely notice them any more than any others I’ve seen).
I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for anything else I’d like to do perhaps in the future, as it just seems all so easy! No faffing about and these drs do this day in, day out, to hundreds of thousands of patients.
You can’t see pictures until you actually get to the hospital, but then they have plenty of binders of pictures of results.
All in all, I had a great experience!
