Worth Waiting for

WORTH IT
Having been top heavy since my teens and having a BMI of 40, I was refused a breast reduction on the NHS unless I lost nearly 8 stone and as my boobs weighed over a stone, this was never going to happen. 35 years later at the age of 52 I did some research and found Fateh who took on ‘high risk’ patients and looked at each person as individuals not just as another client. So I booked a consultation which cost £150 and it was the best £150 I had ever spent. I wasn’t expecting a positive outcome because of my size but he took time to listen to me and was so understanding and caring that even though he advised me that it was possible for him to do the operation there would be a lot of risks involved, I had already made my mind up before I left his office. He gave me some literature to read about the risks, the nipples had to be unattached and grafted so may become infected or lose them altogether, I was given a 2 week cooling off period before revisiting him which seemed like 2 months as I wanted it done straight away! I waited a few weeks to book in for the operation itself as I chose to have it done at the Rivers at Sawbridgeworth and had to wait for a slot in their schedule but was happy to wait as this was more local to me.
I’m not sure how long the op was but approx 4 hours as I was in theatre all afternoon and they removed 6 kilos of breast tissue...a hospital record! I went from a J cup to a C/D cup. I was in hospital 2 days as I had 2 drains in and you have to learn how to get up, get out of bed, go to the loo etc. Everything is very slow to begin with and you are quite weak. Fateh came to see me the day after the operation, phoned me the day I went home and contacted me when I was at home and he and Maggie his secretary kept in touch regularly to make sure everything was ok.
There was quite a bit of bruising but that went within the first week, the nipple graft was a bit scary as they went black and crusty but then pink and healthy. The skin underneath was really itchy which is so irritating as you can’t scratch. The scars healed really well and you see improvements week on week. When they say operations are life changing you cannot imagine the difference this sort of operation make to day to day life. You can breathe normally. Your back/shoulder/neck doesn’t hurt again. You can sit up at a table in a restaurant. You don't wake up in the middle of the night with dead arms. You can buy clothes that fit. You can get in and out of cars normally. Small things that make the world of difference.
I am now 8 months post op and have today been signed off. Fateh is extremely happy with the healing and I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
I can honestly say that Fateh, Maggie and his Team did a wonderful job and would have no hesitation to recommend them for any surgical work.

Thanks for your review! It's great to hear about the fantastic positive difference your procedure has made :)

Thank you for sharing this I’m also getting a breast reduction done on April 3rd . And like you my BMI is a little over 40. I didn’t think I would get approved but I did. I’m going in for preadmission testing did you have to go through this.
Yes, they just do the normal checks to make sure your blood pressure etc is ok and you are healthy to have surgery done, good luck with your operation, you won’t regret it. it was the best thing I have ever done!
I truly have never seen such a horrific breast reduction in my life. I was going to go with this doctor until I saw this
